Method of Memorizing the Materia Medica by Andrew Leight Monroe (1856-1935) was originally published in 1882. Monroe’s rules have been,
1. To give ten to thirty key-notes of each drug, treating preferably the “emergency” remedies and those with complicated pathogeneses.
2. To acrosticize. (a text, usually a poem, in which particular letters, such as the first letters of each line, spell a word or phrase.)
3. To rhyme.
4. To place the most important word of each line either at its acrostic or rhyming end.
Monroe was an American homeopath – Louisville. He was Chair of materia medica at Pulte College in Cincinnati.
