Sleep and Dreams
SLEEPINESS. Great tendency to yawn and stretch (7th day). Frequent yawnings (6th day). Very frequent yawning though he had slept very well the previous night (20th day). Constant yawning, followed after half an hour by violent pressing pain in the stomach, great nausea and efforts to vomit; Vomiting could with difficulty be restrained (22nd day). Sleepiness. SLEEPLESSNESS. Loss of sleep. Difficult falling asleep (4th day). was unable to fall asleep for a long time at night afterwards slept soundly and quietly (95th day). Night uneasy (30th to 35th day). Night restless,; (2nd day). Night restless interrupted by dreams unrefreshing (27th night). Restless sleep towards morning after subsidence of nausea and headache (15 drops 3rd day). Suddenly awakened by fright from a quite sleep of 3 hrs. and only gradually fell again in to a dose (1st night). Awoke early and then fell in to a confused heavy half sleep; In morning unrefreshed and weary. Waking very early in the morning (4 th day). Wakes very early in the morning and after falling asleep again very restless sleep with tossing about (8th and 9th days). Waking at 1.30 a. m. and (afterwards falling asleep again), (2nd day). Waking at 1.30 a. m. (3rd night). Feeling in the morning on rising as though he had not slept enough (56th day). Frequent startings, tossing about of the arms, incoherent talking, and finally snoring, on falling asleep at night. Frequent groaning and much tossing about in bed (20th day). DREAMS. Vivid dreams. Vivid dreams at night, particularly towards morning (Of various dangers and misfortunes). Disagreeable dreams (13th day). Frightful dreams (11th and 12th days). Very disagreeable sensation at 4 a. m.; It is best described as nightmares; It dreamed that someone was lying across my chest and abdomen which arrested the breathing so that I was in danger of suffocation; I groaned aloud, and after waking was covered with sweat; My blood was in a tumult; After rising I felt very weak (89th day).
Fever
CHILLINESS. No sensation of superficial coldness, though the loss of temperature was very marked to the touch (After 1 hr. and a half). Surface generally cold especially of the limbs (0.12 gr).. Unpleasant coolness of the whole body after the nausea (67th day). Slight chilliness (with sickness of stomach), (after half an hour, 8th day). Great chilliness in the evening (12th day). Occasional attacks of chilliness and shivering (32nd day). Coldness of the body (during vomiting). Shivering and sensation of coldness chiefly in the arms and shoulders in the afternoon (2nd day). Shivering alternating with flushes of heat, slight sweat on the back and inside of the thighs (after 1 hr).. Shivering extending from the lower legs over the whole body with a sensation in the pericranium as if it were being tightly constricted about the head, in frequent paroxysms; An hour after the chill there followed heat with dryness of the mouth and lips so that she was constantly obliged to moisten them; The next morning she first had great thirst but no perspiration (3rd). Coldness of the extremities. Feet and hands cold. Feet cold, during the attack with shivering over thighs and back. HEAT. Skin hot and dry. Heat of whole body at night (with disorder stomach). Heat over the body with feeling of cold (after vomiting). Feeling of heat over the whole body. Feeling of heat over the whole body with increased thirst (soon after 40grs. 3rd day). Feverishness in the first part of the night. Febrile paroxysms night and morning. Heat of the face (15th day); Came on suddenly at 5 p. m. during the rest (17th day). Flushes of heat in the face at 4 p. m. (14th day). Face and hands glowing hot while the arms were cold and deep internal chilliness continued. Sensation of glowing heat in the face which however was not noticeably red, at 4 p. m. (9th day). SWEAT. Cold clammy skin. Sweating profusely. Remarkable perspiration while sitting quietly in the evening (111th day). Anxious sweat over the whole body while vomiting. Cold perspiration on the hands (during vomiting). Hands cold, and bathed in cold sweat (after one hour and a half). Cold sweat upon the forehead, extending as far as the route of the nose, while the rest of the body was dry (22nd day).
