Inferior Extremities

OBJECTIVE. Trembling of the lower extremities (4th day). Giving way of the legs, with necessity to sit down. SUBJECTIVE. Sudden transient cramps in the lower limbs and back of the neck (0.12grain). Drawing-tearing pain in the lower limbs, especially in the right great toe (3rd day). The whole right leg, especially the hip, was sensitive, so that I was unable to lie upon the right side at night; in the morning a burning pain on the inner side of the right lower leg; in the evening, after walking, a very distressing, tensive, drawing pain in the whole right leg (73rd day). HIP. Rheumatic pains in hip, coming on at night. Aching pain in right hip-joint (after three hours and a half, third day). Aching and jerking pains in the hip, felt only in the day. Drawing pain in the right hip, extending to the knee. Pressive pain in the right hip-joint (55th day). Violent pressive pain in the right hip, after dinner (75th day). Drawing tearing pain in the left hip-joint, lasting a quarter of an hour (31st day). When sitting, a bruised sensation in the right hip-joint, so that he limps in walking. THIGH. Pain in the course of the sciatic nerve (21st day). Sciatica. Rheumatic pains in right thigh. External burning and smarting sensation over the right trochanter major (4th day). Feeling of coldness in the right thigh, while the rest of the body was warm (15th day). Great tension on anterior surface of the right thigh (15th day). Sudden tensive pain in the middle of the right musculus sartorius, worse when walking, and especially when ascending steps, relieved when sitting and lying, lasting till he felt asleep. Drawing pain on the inner side of the right thigh, in the evening (55th day). Darting pain down outside of the left thigh (6th day). Tearing and drawing in the muscles of the anterior surface of the right thigh (114th day). Transient tearing pain on the inner side of the right thigh and the lower leg (7th day). Bruised pain in the middle of the right thigh (104th day). KNEE. Rheumatic pains in knee and hip-joints (14th day). Rheumatic pains in knee and chest (12th day). Acute rheumatic pains and stiffness in knees, without swelling, felt only in walking and not at night. Tensive pain in the right knee (27th day). Pain in the left knee, as though it were sprained, on rising from sitting a long time; this feeling lasted the whole afternoon; at time associated with a similar pain in the left ankle. Sharp pain in knee (11th day). Sharp pain in right knee and hip-joint and left breast and shoulder (10th day). Sudden tearing in the left knee, in the evening, very painful and preventing any motion of the joint, lasting some minutes, and reappearing after half an hour. Sore pain in the right knee especially noticed on sitting down and rising up (22nd day). LEG. Heaviness of the right leg (36th day). Heaviness of the lower legs, with burning pain in a corn on sitting down after going in to the house (33rd day). Heaviness and tension in the right lower leg (7th day). Great heaviness and tension in the right leg, especially in the knee (43rd day). Pain in bones of the lower leg constant, totally preventing rapid walking, almost intolerable on bending the ankle upward (7th day). Violent pain in bones of the lower legs, extending to the ankles, feeling as though the feat had been broken or bruised, intolerably increased on moving the ankle upward so that walking was difficult (6th day). Burning on the inner surface of the right lower leg (55th day). Burning on the outer surface of the left lower leg, in the afternoon (24th day). Tension and heaviness in the right leg, in the evening, after a long walk (15th day). Severe tension in the right leg, in the evening (15th day). Cramp in his legs and thighs. Drawing and tearing in the right lower leg, in the tibia, as if in the periosteum; afterwards in the bones of the right forearm (28th day). Tearing pain from left ham down the leg. Pain in the bone in the middle of the left tibia suddenly appeared, and after lasting a few seconds suddenly disappeared, but afterwards returned; once this same pain attacked the frontal bone along the left eyebrow, lasting four or five minutes, and did not return (5th day). Drawing pain in the right tibia, and drawing in the right hand, in the morning (51st day). Tearing in the right tibia (25th day). Tearing and pinching above the external malleolus of the left foot, as if in the tibia, in the evening (3rd day). Bruised pain in spine tibia, first in one leg, then in the other (31st day). A pain came on, in the afternoon, in the tendons of the muscles of the calf, as if stretched, much felt in walking, and causing lameness; it extends up to the ham and down to the tendo Achillis; it continued two days. Cramp in calves of legs. Frequent twitches in muscles of calves of legs. ANKLE. A small hard swelling on the inner malleolus of the right foot, only somewhat painful on hard pressure (15th day); this swelling increased, was very hard, and of a rhomboid form, immovable, seemed to be seated on the bone, and only painful on hard pressure (17th day); somewhat decreased (18th day). Pressive pain on the inner malleolus of the right ankle (48th day). FOOT. Sudden numbness and crawling in the forepart of the right foot while sitting (38th day). Paralyzed feeling in the right foot (20th day). Burning of the feet, especially of the soles (114th day). Great painfulness of the forepart of the left foot while walking as well in a corn as in the hard skin of the great toe so that I had to limp, and I was sometimes obliged to stand because of the pain; afterwards while sitting the pain disappeared; in the afternoon after long walk, it returned in the foot, but was not so violent in the forenoon (117th day). Feeling as though muscles in the sole of the foot were cut across, very decidedly hindering walking in the right foot (after five weeks). Soreness in the heels in walking, continued for some days after the proving. Swelling and pain in the left tendo achillis; stepping upon the toes is very difficult (this symptom of the foot frequently alternates with that of the arm, see; the pain in the foot always diminished after a somewhat prolonged walk, and was less during rest, but afterwards it was always more severe (5th and 8th days); the pain extended to the right tendo Achillis, so that walking was exceedingly difficult (12th day); the left foot was somewhat better, but the right more painful (13th day); the pain disappeared from the left foot, but continued in the right as before (14th day); disappeared entirely (17th day). TOES. Pains, heat, and throbbing in the toes, – Acute gouty pain in ball of right great toe, precisely like the pain in the left foot, and succeeding the other after an interval of four or five minutes (15th day). Acute twinging pain in ball of left great toe, lasting four minutes (15th day). Painful shooting the second joint of the great toe at night, in bed. Sore pain in the right great toe, in a spot of the inner side where the nail joins the flesh, in the evening (72nd day).

General Symptoms

OBJECTIVE. Emaciation. General emaciation (22nd day). Considerable emaciation. Blood buffed and cupped. Quite stiff, and could hardly rise in the morning. Very languid (8th day). Weariness and exhaustion (8th day). Weariness, in evening – Great weariness towards evening. Unusual weariness while walking in the open air; the limps feel as heavy as lead, with prostration, indifference fretful mood, aversion to the usual business, and desire for rest. I experience exhausting warmth, as after great physical exertion; the shortest walk overcomes me, and I always seek a seat, very exhausted, indifferent, and taciturn, am not able to collect my thoughts, distracted, and as far as able I cut short conversation to avoid showing the fact; I seek to be alone and feel better in the open air. Remarkable weariness in the evening (9th day). Weakness of the whole body, especially of the thighs (2nd day). Weakness, particularly in the region of the navel (8th day). Constant weakness. Great weakness, lasting till noon. Weakness, even to sinking down (4th day). Very decided weakness and sleepiness (though I had walked but little during the day), so great that I was unable to read or write; the eyes closed while sitting, and I nearly fell asleep while eating supper (40th day). Great weakness so that he was obliged to give up work. The attacks of vomiting seized after a sleep of an hour and half but there followed great weakness and exhaustion. Such weakness in the morning that he was obliged to lie down again (2nd day); very much weaker in morning; Could scarcely rise and tremble greatly in making the attempt but without any increase of pain (3rd day); The debility in creases to such a degree that the patient died sleeping calmly as if from pure exhaustion. (After 45 hr.).. Exhaustion (4th day). General exhaustion especially of the limbs after rising (54th day). General exhaustion and indolence; afterwards as I began to work this indolence disappeared and I was able to work easily in the afternoon (99th day). Great exhaustion (26th day). Prostration (4th day). C Great prostration (after 1.5 hr.).. Great prostration after the slightest motion. Great prostration weakness and sleepiness with incessant and distressing yawning (after 1 hr. 23rd day). Great prostration with great excitement so that I was prevented from falling asleep for an hour; It was a sensation as though as I were to be seriously ill (1st day). Extreme prostration of strength (frontal headache after vertigo), (30gtt.1st dil).. Quite prostrate after half hour. Very prostrate. Very uneasy rolling over, tumbling about and extremely nervous for an hour (after 1 hr.).. SUBJECTIVE. Very sensitive to the cold air in the afternoon (8th day). Moderately cold air was very distressing so that I hurried to into a warm room, where contrary to habit I had a desire for beer which relieved me (3rd day). Almost complete insensibility. Great venous excitement at times; Paroxysmal with great uneasiness in the forenoon (132nd day). (Given in small doses such as 0.05,0.10 of a gram, it is an immediate irritant of the alimentary canal; It gives rise to retching vomiting, sometimes diarrhoea, loss of appetite, difficulty in breathing and slowness of circulation; In large doses it produces all the symptoms of subacute gastritis; There is urgent thirst and spontaneous and difficult vomiting which is excited by the mildest beverage; the ejecta are mucous, bilious yellow and sometimes bloody; At the same time the extremities become cold; There is dyspnoea, great anxiety, loss of appetite, repeated efforts to vomit, then the breathing becomes stertorous and death is preceded by a state of utter prostration). A peculiar sensation through the whole body; It seemed as though an acridity, and impurity, or diathesis or (what would be an intelligible word to most of us), as if psora had been aroused by this drug and was giving rise to all my symptoms (77th day). Great disinclination for exertion, lasting for 4 hrs. (after 4th dose). Great disinclination to rise from bed and move about (10th day). Desire to rest and sleep; Lying down for an hour put an end to the suffering (8th day). Feeling of great weariness over the whole body, especially the lower extremities (34th day). Felt weak and was obliged to lie down almost immediately. General discomfort with uneasiness in the morning (109th day). Great discomfort after rising a prostration especially felt in the extremities (49th day). Indescribable sensation of general discomfort (31st day). Health gradually declined. General sick feeling (4th day); without definite symptoms in afternoon (99th day). Very sick and weak the whole day so that she feared that she would be really sick with pale sickly expression though she had but one diarrhoea like stool (2nd day). Awoke with all the feeling of having caught a severe cold (31st day). Rheumatic symptoms (distant pains etc). reappeared. Rheumatic pains in different parts of the body (20th day),; (22nd day). Occasional rheumatic attacks. Severe cramp in various parts of the body chiefly calves of legs and inner parts of thighs with very severe gastro-intestinal inflammation. Drawing pains especially in the extremities and other parts of the body during the day (42nd day). Drawing pain in various parts of the body but uniformly near the bones as if in the periosteum or in the tendinous expansion lying near it on waking in the morning (39th day). Drawing pains in the hands, feet, occiput, and face, on waking in the morning; After a while pressure and drawing between the shoulders, and some tension in the pectoral muscles before dinner (41st day). Very distressing drawing pains in various parts of the body especially in the bones of the face though also in the long bones of the extremities after rising in the morning (43rd day). Stitches in different parts of the body (61st day). Violent, persistent, tearing pains in the bones; These are concentrated in both little toes and associated with very distressing crawling pains; They become so violent that it seems as though both toes would be forcibly torn off; After a few hours these pains gradually diminished but continued through the night and following forenoon; There now set in slight pains in the thighs and sacrum which however disappeared after a few hours; Next day he notices the same pains in the thorax, which however may be ascribed to gymnastics exercises. Drawing tearing here and there in the body especially in the limbs, in the forepart of the chest and between the shoulders, on waking in the morning (22nd day). Drawing tearing pains alternately in various parts of the body and suddenly jumping from one place to another (31st day). Wandering pains in various parts especially in the joints of the upper and lower extremities; Drawing tearing pain which lasts for a short time in one place and suddenly jumps to another and disappears on moving the affected part (4th day). The pain is much more severe in winter than summer. All the pains gradually seem towards evening (2nd day). All the pain disappeared permanently after dinner. All the symptoms disappeared a short but refreshing sleep (7th day).
