Chest

Paralyses of the lungs. Very free in the chest and abdomen (forth day). Anxiety in the chest, immediately. Pains in the chest (after five minutes). Pains in the chest, with a feeling of oppression, lasting several hours (from inhaling the vapor). Pain in a small spot below the left ribs (after half an hour). All parts of the thorax are painful on every motion. A concealed pain in the left chest. Burning in the chest, on breathing (after one hour and a quarter). Burning on the right clavicle, by the shoulder (after one hour). A pulling pain in the left pectoral muscles. Tightness in the chest, during and after breathing (after half an hour). Tightness in the chest, on stooping, not disappearing on becoming erect (after a quarter of an hour). Pinching pains in the outer surface of the left intercostal muscles. Pressure in the middle of the chest (first day). Pressure in the chest, on inspiration (after one hour). Pressure upon the chest, in the room (after one hour). Pressure and tension in the chest, with a fretful mood. Pressure on the chest was often so violent that it impeded breathing and caused a fine cutting; lasting several day. Pressure in the chest, as if a weight lay upon it, at 2.30 P. M. Decided pressure, as from a weight in the chest, especially while sitting (second, third, and fourth days). Superficial pressure upon the chest, when walking in the open air, disappearing in the room (after one hour). Feeling as though a heavy body were lying on the middle of the chest, and caused a pressive pain on deep inspiration. Oppression of the chest, unchanged by breathing (after half an hour). Cramplike oppression of the chest, very transient, during rest. Pains like knife-thrusts in the left chest, not only in the fleshy parts but in the bones, in the evening in bed. Violent sticking from both sides of the chest, extending to about a hand’s breadth from the sternum (after two hours). Several stitches in succession in the last false ribs at 10 A.M. (third day). Transient stitches though the left chest. Several intermitting stitches at first violent, then less severe, in the left ribs, near the ensiform cartilage (soon). The ribs are painful, as if bruised, or as if he had ridden a long distance in a carriage, whenever he lies on the side. Front. A feeling of heaviness on the sternum on stooping, immediately relieved on rising up. Sudden and transient burning above the ensiform cartilage at 2 P. M. Pressure on the sternum, above the ensiform cartilage (after half an hour). Pressure in the upper part of the sternum, not affected by breathing, at 2 P. M. Pressure in the middle of the sternum (after half an hour). Pressure in the lower portion of the sternum (after three quarters of an hour). Pressure upon the sternum, aggravated by inspiration (after half an hour). Pressure inward in a small spot on the sternum, not aggravated buy inspiration, at 2 P. M. Sticking and then burning in the sternum (after two hours and a half). Stitches in the lower portion of the sternum somewhat to the right side; on inspiration, there is sticking through the chest into the back at 6 P. M. A painful stitch extending from the back through the chest into the sternum, at 2 o’clock. Fine stitches in the middle of the sternum (after half an hour). Sides. Oppressive tightness on both sides of the chest (after a quarter of an hour). Sticking tension in the left side, that extends up into the neck, and there causes a tensive sticking on bending towards the left side; in the morning (after twenty-four hours). Stitches in the right side of the chest near the sternum (after one hour and a half). Coarse stitches in the right ribs to wards the back (after one hour and a quarter). Some fine stitches in the left side of the chest beneath the arm (after one hour and a half). Slow stitches in right side of the chest, so violent that he was obliged to cry out; while standing, at 6 P. M. Mammae. Burning beneath the left mammae (after four hours). Severe stitches and burning in the left female breast (after two hours and a half). Dull stitches beneath the left breast, extending to the scapula (after quarter of an hour). Sharp stitches in the left female breast, on laughing, but not on inspiration; frequently (after half an hour). Extremely violent needle like stitches beneath the left mammae (after three-quarters of an hour). Fine stitches in the left female breast (after half an hour). Some fine stitches in succession beneath the left mammae (after one hour). Fine stitches in the left breast, on inspiration (after two hours). Fine stitches as with needles beneath the left mammae at 2 P. M. Creeping or moving stitches in the female breast, whereby the skin becomes sensitive to touch, lasting a long time (after half an hour).

Heart and Pulse

Intermitting fine sticking in the region of the heart, aggravated by inspiration (after one hour and a quarter). The pulse was accelerated and smaller than usual, during the headache (after five days). Pulse 80 (after half an hour). Pulse slow (after 25 drops). Pulse slow; entirely without energy (after 20 drops). Pulse slow, but remaining full and regular (half an hour after 10 drops). Pulse slower and weaker than usual (after 12 drops). Pulse a few beats slower than usual (first day). Pulse 12 beats slower than usual (after 35 drops). Pulse 5 or 6 beats slower than usual (after 16 drops). Pulse 4 to 6 beats less than usual (after 14 drops). Pulse 4 or 5 beats slower (after 10 drops); 5 or 6 beats slower (after 15 drops); 8 to 10 beats slower (after 20 drops)); 12 beats slower (after 30 drops. Pulse diminished from 3 to 4 beats (after 8 drops). Pulse sank from 70 to 65 (after 15 drops). Pulse sank to 65 (ten minutes after 10 drops); to 60 (ten minutes after 15 drops); the pulse also became slower after succeeding doses. Pulse sank from 70 to 64 (after 35 drops). Pulse small and slow, 59 to 63 (after 60 drops). Pulse 67 to 70, normal; small and slow, 60 to 63 (a quarter of an hour after 50 drops). Pulse, usually 70 and over, was only 60 in a minute after 10 drops. Pulse small, contracted, slow, 58 to 59 (a quarter of an hour after 112 drops). The pulse in the forearm and carotids, and also the beat of the heart, were scarcely perceptible; the beats followed each other at intervals of two seconds. Pulse small. The pulse was less changed after 25 drops than after a former small dose (10 drops.

Neck and Back.

Neck. Stiffness in the nape of the neck. Tension in the right side of the neck, noticed on moving the head (after three hours). Pressure in the nape of the neck, in the open air, disappearing in the house (after one hour). Painful pressure in the nape of the neck, which compels her to hold the head forward; on raising it, a painful tension; at 6.30 P. M. lasting an hour. Cramp like pressive pain in the left cervical vertebrae on turning the head towards the left, not at all noticed when at rest. Fine sticking in the right side of the neck (after three hours and a half). A stitch in the nape of the neck, towards the left shoulder, at 2 O’clock. Tearing in the neck, then in the left shoulder; not disappearing on rubbing; after dinner. Violent beating, as with a hammer, in the right side of the neck, while running (after two hours). Back. Tension in the back and between the shoulders, that extends into the neck (after thirty-six hours). Slight sticking in the back (after half an hour). Stitches in the back (after one hour and a quarter). Dorsal. A burrowing and boring between the shoulders, little noticed during motion, but very much aggravated during rest. Pressure inward between the shoulders (after one hour). Pressive pain beneath the point of the right scapula. Sticking pain between the shoulders. A stitch between the scapulae, on lacing the corsets (after three-quarters of an hour). Stitch in the right scapula, towards the axilla, while standing, at 3.30 P. M. Stitches in the tip of the left scapula, on inspiration (after one hour). Fine tearing on the upper part of the left scapula (after one hour and a half). Stitches and burning in the middle of the right scapula (after two hours). Two stitches in succession in the right scapula, towards the axilla (after one hour). Sharp stitch in the lower portion of the right scapula (after three-quarters of an hour, and frequently). Several fine stitches, in succession, in the middle of the right scapula (after one hour and a half). Lumbar. Pain in the small of the back, as from weariness; on becoming erect, frequently (after three quarters of an hour). Stitches in the right side of the small of the back (after one quarter of an hour). A feeling extending from the abdomen into the small of the back, as if something large had fallen down (after one hour and a half). Pain like a stiffness in the small of the back and back, when writing; it immediately disappears on becoming erect, soon returning. Sacral. Burning in the coccyx, at 4 P. M.

Extremities in General.

The limbs were very flexible, and remained wherever they were placed. The limbs seem paralyzed and lose their sensation. Extremities paralyzed and cold, but not insensible. Paralysis of the hands and feet. The limbs become quite numb and insensible. A feeling as if the joints were only loosely articulated. Paralytic-like pains in the articular extremities of several joints.
