Bowels acted unusually free (fifty-seventh day). Bowels confined for three days (eighth day). No stool during the day, very unusual (third day); loose stool (fourth day).

Urinary organs

Kidneys and Urethra. Tenderness over the region of the kidneys on pressure (twelfth day). Tingling with unpleasant itching in the orifice of the urethra; came on suddenly and lasted a few minutes, in the morning (second day). Itching or prickling sensation in the lips of the meatus after passing urine (fifth day). Sudden unpleasant itching in the opening of the urethra, in the evening (third day). Sudden darting pain up the urethra, while sitting (seventh day). Sudden darting, stinging pains, running up the urethra, whilst sitting (twelfth day). 7 P.M., a sharp, cutting pain in the urethra, from within outward (eighteenth day). Micturition and Urine. On arising, in the morning, urgent desire to urinate, with slight tenesmus of the bladder, but passing very little urine (fifth day). Up to urinate twice in the night, and passed each time a pint or more of light- colored urine (never before), (first night); white and profuse urine (ninth day). Frequent micturition of colorless urine (twelfth day). Frequent micturition of clear urine (seventh day).

Copious urination (third night, and fifth day); copious urination of a whitish color (seventeenth day). Still an increased flow of urine (seventeenth day). Increased flow of light-colored urine, in the forenoon (sixth day). Largely increased secretion of limpid urine the following twenty-four hours; the quantity was enormous. Passing of large quantities of urine (after one week).

Large quantity of urine (twenty-eighth day). Urine free (third day); free and light-colored (fourth day); copious urination (sixth day). Urine very profuse, light-colored, and deposits a white sediment (after a month). On rising, in the morning, passed a very large quantity of very dark red urine, of a very strong odor; urine gradually diminished in quantity and color, the same day, while I felt in every respect better (twenty-first day).

Urine of a deep orange color, the secretion being somewhat increased (sixteenth day).

Sexual Organs.

Sometimes obstinate itching, and uncomfortable feeling in the genitals (twenty-eighth day). Unconscious emission of semen, at night while asleep; has not occurred before for many years (third night). Diminished sexual excitement, all through, thus far (tenth day). Diminished sexual desire or power; no erections for many days (thirteenth day).

Respiratory organs

10 A.M., a scraping, tickling sensation, low down, in the bronchia (nineteenth day). Itching at the top of windpipe (fortieth day). Voice. On getting up this morning, hoarseness, as if from dryness in the larynx, went off after breakfast (third day); remained till evening (fourth day); took none of the drug on account of the hoarseness (fifth day). Hoarseness, in the morning, with dirty taste (thirty-ninth day); hoarseness, in the morning, better (fortieth day). Hoarseness with the sore throat (twenty-sixth day). Cough and Expectoration. Slight cough, with expectoration (twenty-eighth day). Cough, with irritation at the top of windpipe; no expectoration (thirty-seventh day); cough not so frequent (thirty-eighth day). Cough (thirty-ninth day); now and then dry (fortieth day); on going into cold air, with slight expectoration (forty-first day). Cough troublesome (forty-second day); very troublesome on first moving about, relieved by expectoration (forty-third day); very troublesome, with difficult expectoration of light-colored phlegm, causing soreness and roughness of the throat (forty- fourth day); cough, in the morning, almost making me sick, retching slightly (forty-fifth day); occasional cough (forty- ninth day); cough mornings, with slight expectoration, tough mucus, also on going into the cold air (fifty-third day); little or no cough; slight expectoration of mucus (sixty-first day). Constant scraping cough; phlegm slightly sweet (eleventh day). Irritating cough with the sore throat (twenty-sixth day). Slight, acrid expectoration, with rawness and soreness of throat (tenth day). Saltish expectoration (sixth day). Respiration. Panting breathing on the least exercise, particularly on ascending stairs, with violent palpitation of the heart, and accelerated pulse (fourteenth day).

Frequent involuntary deep breathing, approaching to yawning; this has been more or less present for several weeks (fourteenth day).

Inclined frequently to draw a deep breath to relieve the chest (thirty-fifth day).

Chest.

Sharp stitches or catching pain in the lower lobe of the left lung, on drawing a long breath, at night in bed (eighth day).

Orgasm or flow of blood to the chest, with sensation of heat; this symptom occurred twice (third day). Orgasm in the chest (slight), (after one hour, fourteenth day). Oppression of the chest, with the dull and stupid feeling, at 4 P.M. (sixteenth day). Great feeling of oppression in the chest, with hurried respiration and prostration; on talking or reading aloud, was obliged to stop several times to get breath, before being able to finish sentence, which continued all the evening (eleventh day).

Great weakness and oppression of the chest, with shortness of breath, and followed by nausea almost to vomiting (thirteenth day). Oppression of the chest, with rapid respiration; difficulty of breathing, as if there were no air in room (twenty-first day).

Vague pain in the chest (third day). Front and Sides. Sharp pleuritic pains under the left sternum, while sitting, and relieved by exercise (seventh day). A dull, aching, subcutaneous pain near the left side of the sternum, a little below the center; made worse by pressure, also from sitting, but passing off whilst moving (ninth day). Occasional pains through both sides of the chest; transient, but frequently returning (fourteenth day). Muscular drawing pain under the right breast, for a second, at 9 A.M. (second day). Sharp pleuritic pain in the left side of the chest, came on while sitting, and lasted a few minutes (twelfth day). Pains through the chest, more the left side of the chest, came on while sitting, and lasted few minutes (twelfth day). Pains through the chest, more the left side, and posterior portions (thirteenth day). Boring pain in the left side, seemingly in the intercostal spaces (after three hours, fourteenth day).

Heart and Pulse

In the afternoon, while walking in the open air, sensation of heat in the precordia, with fullness in the abdomen, going off soon after sitting down (fifteenth day). Stitch in the heart, after dinner (second day). Violent beating of the heart, on ascending stairs, which lasted about five minutes, at 4 P.M.

(sixteenth day). Some throbbing of the arteries, at night (second night). Pulse during the forenoon, 80; after dinner 88 (seventh day). Strong, full, and intermittent and increased from 95 to 100 in the erect position, in the evening (eighth day); pulse strong and full, 80;erect position, 110 in the evening (eleventh day); intermittent and irregular pulse; almost imperceptible, at 100 strong, bounding pulse, 120 per minute (twenty-third day); 80 (thirtieth day). Pulse 72 (twelfth day). Pulse 92 (third day); 73 (fourth day); 80 (sixth and fourteenth days).

Neck and Back

Neck. At 2 P.M., soreness and stiffness of the neck, upon moving or turning the head; passing off after some time (sixth day).

Woke with some stiffness in cords of the neck; the same, only less violent than on two mornings before (seventh day).

Occasionally sensation as if the neck was stiff (twelfth day).

Soreness and stiffness along the sternocleidomastoid muscle of the left side of the neck (sixth day). Soreness and stiffness of the sternocleidomastoid muscle of the right side of the neck, worse on moving the head to side affected, and relieved on moving it to the opposite side; continued for ten days (after twelve days). Slight stiffness of the neck, with the heaviness and weariness in the head (nineteenth day). Pains in the muscles of the neck and shoulders, at 4 P.M. (sixteenth day). Feeling of fullness of the gland, left side of neck, extending to the side of face (seventeenth day). Back. Tenderness on pressure along the whole spinal column (twelfth day). Dorsal. Pulsative pain between the scapulae, passing from one to the other, thence to the dorsum of the right arm in the extensor muscles, darting from above toward the elbow (ninth day). Bruised feeling of the top of the spine (eighteenth day). Lumbar and Sacral. Pains in the lumbar region and rectum (seventeenth day). Great weakness across the small of the back, extending around the body, as if the body were broken (twelfth day). Pain in the small of the back with the restlessness (sixteenth night). Some weariness and languor, especially in the loins (fifth day). At 10 P.M., weariness and pain in the loins and lower extremities (fifth day); also on the sixth day. Painful weakness of the loins, worse on standing, at 10 P.M. (eleventh day). Weakness of the loins after exercise (thirteenth day). Painful weariness of the loins, constant (fourteenth day). In the morning, woke with pain in the loins, aching worse on moving (fifth day). Awoke with pain over the right kidney, aching worse on moving (seventh day). A dull aching pain over the sacrum, a little below its union with the lumbar vertebra; worse during motion or standing (seventh day). Pain in the sacrum (eighteenth day).
