Mouth.

Teeth. Since taking the medicine there has been very rapid decay of the teeth; the filling has fallen out of two; easily bleeding gums; teeth feel elongated in the morning, and then ache from 2.30 to 4 P.M. each day; the pain is sharp stabbing, and contact along the course of the superior branch of the trifacial nerve is sensitive and readily excites pain, and he cannot lie on that side of the face at night (after a month). Sordes on the teeth, as if mixed with blood (seventeenth day); sordes having the appearance of white mucus (eighteenth day). Grinding of the teeth, with the restless sleep (thirteenth night). Grinding of the teeth whilst asleep; (this symptom occurred very frequently during the whole proving). Shooting pain in the teeth (twenty- sixth day). Dull boring pain in left molar of lower jaw (tenth day). Pain in the exposed nerve of a front tooth for a short time only (third day). Toothache on the left side of the face, before and after breakfast; went off in the forenoon, and returned again after dinner, for an hour or two (second day); toothache, left side, sound and decayed teeth, upper and lower jaw, all the morning (third day); toothache again severely, left side, upper bicuspid and molar teeth, extending to the face; comes on after rising and washing (fourth day); as before, but slight (fifth day); toothache and dull face ache during morning, till after 2 P.M. (tenth day). Aching of some decayed teeth in the lower jaw of the left side, after dinner (seventh day). Toothache in the left upper molars at night; fine drawing pain, feeling as if it were going to throb (sixteenth day). Slight toothache on rising, hardly to be noticed, but after going to college, it gradually increased, until noon it was severe; my cheek became considerably swollen; I had constant discharge of saliva from my mouth after 12 M.; this pain was in a decayed tooth; but the teeth on each side were sound, and so elongated that it was with much difficulty and pain that I could eat my dinner; little or no pain in the tooth at night (seventh day); there was slight pain in the tooth, but again toward noon it increased very much, and again with the same flow and drooling of saliva from the mouth; there were some soreness and tenderness of the other teeth on eating (eighth day); not much of the toothache left (ninth day); toothache all gone; but the swelled cheek remained (tenth day); the tooth was the second large molar of the superior maxillary of the left side. Teeth of left side feel elongated and sore; violent pains in upper molars of left side; sound teeth; excessive boring, digging pain, profuse flow of saliva; aggravated by walking in cold air and by contact; also by a high degree of heat; parietal ease obtained only by lying down in a moderately cool room; could not endure the pain; took Mere. with relief (third day). Inclination to toothache in left side of lower jaw in decayed double tooth (fifty-third day). Grumbling in teeth of left side before breakfast; violent pain after eating (fourth day); pain in teeth of left side (fifth day); toothache during the forenoon; intervals of perfect ease, five to ten minutes (sixth day). Soreness of the teeth (fifth day). Soreness of some sound teeth, while eating breakfast (fifteenth day).

Sensitive feeling in the teeth appeared before going to sleep, but was not continued or very marked (first night). Sore and loose sensation in front incisors, as if chilled by cold air; not subject to pain in the teeth (seventh day). Gums. Discoloration of the gums, dark red (twenty-sixth day). Small, mattery ulcers on the gums (twenty-sixth day). Gums inflamed and left cheek swollen (eighty-fourth day). Painful gum-boil in left upper jaw, with considerable swelling of face; discharge of matter from two heads (eighty- fourth day). Bleeding of the gums, quite profuse on retiring, at 10 P.M. (sixth day). Bleeding form the gums, in the afternoon and evening (fifth day); hemorrhage from the gums (sixth day); slight bleeding from the gums again from preparing some Plantago (seventh day). Feeling of stiffness and fullness of gums and face, both sides (twenty-sixth day). Tongue. Tongue slightly coated with a whitish coating. Morning, white-coated tongue (seventeenth and eighteenth day). General Mouth. Breath very offensive, putrid (eighty-fourth day). Putrid smell from the breath (fifth day). Dry mouth in the morning (fourteenth day).

Dirty feeling in the mouth all day (twenty-ninth day). Saliva and Taste. Spit a quantity of brown, dirty-tasting saliva, when the headache comes on (twenty-second day). Have spit a little bright blood two or three times (forty- third day). Food tasteless.

Clammy taste more or less, every morning. Clammy taste in the mouth, in the morning; dirty taste (fifth day). Putrid taste (nineteenth day). Dirty taste in the mouth, on waking (thirty- sixth day). Dirty taste, with the hoarseness in the morning (thirty- ninth day). Dirty taste in mouth, with thirst, at night (forty-fourth day). Dirty, putrid taste in mouth, morning, on waking (fifty- third day).

Throat.

Profuse secretion of mucus in the throat, with frequent hawking of mucus (after a month). On waking, feeling of rawness in the throat; relaxed, with sensation as if I had taken cold (second day). Feeling in the throat as of a slight swelling deep down on the right side (fifth day). Slight rawness and soreness of throat; relaxed feeling, with considerable hoarseness; constant desire to clear the throat of tenacious, white phlegm; burning, acrid taste; obliged to cough and scrape the throat for that purpose; throat raw (eleventh day). Throat relaxed, sore, feeling as if raw and had taken a bad cold, with hoarseness and irritating cough (twenty-sixth day). Huskiness in the throat, with accumulation of very tenacious phlegm; unable to clear the throat, with slight, sore burning feeling (after twenty-minutes, second day). Awoke with huskiness and soreness in the throat, with rawness and irritation; difficulty of clearing the throat, feeling as if I had taken cold (fourth day). Dryness and huskiness in the throat, which lasted about an hour, in the morning on arising (fifteenth day). Slight huskiness in throat (twenty-eighth day). Dryness in the throat, on rising, in the morning; disappeared in the afternoon (third day). On rising the morning, dryness of the throat (ninth day). Dryness and soreness of the throat and mouth, mucous membrane of nose (third day).

During all day had a dry, parched throat (seventh day); also in the evening; a draught of air irritates and produces cough (tenth day). Slight soreness of throat (thirty-seventh day); sore throat, with considerable hoarseness before getting up; sweetish taste; better during the morning, but throat out of tone, relaxed (thirty-eighth day). Soreness and pain in throat (sixth day). At 10 P.M., roughness and sensation of erosion in the throat (second day). There was a sensation of scraping in the throat, when swallowing, in the morning. Sensation of scraping in the throat (seventh day). Some uneasiness and scraping in the throat, in the evening (second day). Felt a slight burning smarting sensation in the left side of the throat, for a few seconds; an hour after the same sensation in the right side, for the same time (forty-fourth day). Sensation as if there were some foreign body in the throat.

Several times sharp pains in the throat, momentary (eighteenth day). Sometimes a sharp, cutting pain in the throat (seventeenth day). At times slight itching in throat (thirty-fifth day).

Fauces and Pharynx. Sensation of dryness in the fauces and pharynx; continual desire to swallow; not much thirst. On awaking in the morning, felt an unpleasant and constrictive sensation in the pharynx, which soon passed off (seventh day). On waking up in the night, felt a rawness and soreness in the pharynx (fifteenth night); (this symptom continued all next day in a modified degree, with dryness and tickling in the throat, inducing a dry hacking cough). Soreness and slight tumefaction of the submaxillary glands on each side (seventh day); soreness (eighth day).

Stomach

Appetite and Thirst. Not much appetite; (fifty-third day). Slight appetite and speedy satiety (fifth day). Slight appetite (seventh day). But little appetite, with speedy satiety (twelfth day).

Loss of appetite, with desire to do several things at once, but no inclination to move and do one; resting all day (sixteenth day). Thirst, with the headache (sixteenth night). Thirst (eighteenth and thirty-ninth days). Thirst, at night, with dirty taste in mouth (forty-fourth day). Thirst, with the face ache (eleventh day). Eructations. Frequent empty eructations (seventh day). Frequent empty eructations, with slight rumbling in the bowels and occasional emissions of flatus (third day).

Eructations empty (fifteenth day). Frequent eructations of wind, continued for three weeks (ninth day). On getting up, in the morning, I noticed I had constant eructations, which tasted very strong of sulphur, a symptom that I never had before; this eructation lasted me all day, and during the forenoon the sulphur taste was always present; afternoon it changed its character, the sulphur taste was gone, but I had a strong taste of carbonic acid gas, as much so as if I had drank a bottle of well-charged soda water; this gas was in large quantities, and was eructated in intervals of from five to fifteen minutes apart; after supper, part of this gas passed down to the bowels, causing great boring pain, and passing off with a strong effluvium of sulfuretted hydrogen, the eructations still continuing; on lying down, there was a constant rumbling and passing of this gas in the intestines, without a desire to pass it off; they appeared to be inflated and filled with gas (fifth day). Nausea and Vomiting.
