There are many wealthy homoeopaths. I would draw attention to a striking appeal by Dr. George Burford, an eminent homoeopathic surgeon and physician, whose name is a household word among homoeopaths throughout the world. He has published an eloquent plea for funds for homoeopathic cancer research.

A few homoeopathic friends of his have already come forward with substantial sums, and I hope that every reader of this magazine will send contributions according to his means to the Secretary of the London Homoeopathic Hospital, Great Ormond Street, London. They ought to be distinctly marked “Dr. George Burfords Cancer Research Fund.” Even the smallest contributions will be highly welcome. The contributions received will be acknowledged in these pages. James Ellis Barker 1870 – 1948 was a Jewish German lay homeopath, born in Cologne in Germany. He settled in Britain to become the editor of The Homeopathic World in 1931 (which he later renamed as Heal Thyself) for sixteen years, and he wrote a great deal about homeopathy during this time.
