Skin Objective.
Surface of the body pale, but warm and moist (2nd day). Small itching spots on the neck and left forearm, red when touched. A dull greenish spot on the left side of the thigh (this spot might have been longer, since there was no sensation that called my attention to it; it was not caused by contusion), (after 15 days). A wartlike elevation on the left cheek becomes larger and itches. Eruptions, dry. Numerous pimples on the nape and occiput, which disappear the following day (after 30 days). Many pimples on the nape of the neck. Itching pimples of the size of peas on the body, even on the face, only not on the hands and feet. Itching pimples on the right nates after scratching (after 32 days). Itching at times, burning or biting pimples on the nape of the neck, on the forepart of the nose, throat, and right elbow, where she has to scratch them bloody. A small pimple on the shoulder, with violent sticking pains and irritation to scratch it off. Eruptions, moist. Blisters on the upper lip, with inflamed areola and tensive pain (after 16 hours). Small vesicles which change to pustules, on the face and other parts of the body (2nd day). Burning vesicles full of thin yellow fluid, here and there; after scratching they burst and burning ceases (after 34 days). Many itching pimples on the right forearm, which exude water scratching on. A large painless pimple like “water-pock”on the inner margin of the lower lip, which after several days became smaller and at last disappeared without breaking (2nd day). Eruptions, Pustular. Small, painless pustule, with red base on the nape of the neck. A tensive painful pustule on the left side of the nose. A boil on the right shoulder with tensive pain. A boil on the lower portion of the thumb. Subjective. Some stitches on the skin, especially on the chest, on every motion. Stitches as with needles followed by burning on the skin, especially on the face. Itching especially on the legs and tibia, so that she was obliged to scratch them bloody; with red spots here and there (after 20 days). Itching here and there in the evening, obliging scratching. Itching with stitches here and there in the evening after lying down. Itching in several parts, also on the scalp; at times she was obliged to scratch it till it bled, after which it burned and pained. Itching in various places several times; also on the inner side of the right great toe, as if it had been frostbitten (9th day). Tickling itching here and there over the whole body, on the left thumb, right side of the nose, right meatus, left upper arm, hollow of the right knee, left cheek and concha, sole of the right foot, back, right tibia, right axilla, left thigh, scalp, scrotum etc. as if feathers were lightly drawn over the surface (immediately). (During this proving he suffered less than usual from the extreme itching of the skin of the whole body). Itching biting in the left knee. Crawling in the hands and feet, as from ants; also later on the tongue. Tickling in the left upper arm, left ear, leg, and scrotum (6th day). Itching on the right side of the nose and afterwards fine sticking in the tip of it, towards evening (5th day). Itching and crawling in the tip of the nose (22nd day). (Itching here and there on the chest, feet etc)., (11th day). Itching on the right forearm, with pimples after scratching. Itching on the right arm, middle finger of the right hand, on the left cheek, on the small of the back, the left lower leg, etc. in the evening (8th day). Itching on the left elbow, on the anterior and inner sides of the right thigh (2nd day). Violent itching on the upper margin of both orbits, frequently (4th day). Frequent violent itching of the face.
Sleep and Dreams.
Sleepiness. Yawning. Yawning and sleeping during the day. Much yawning, with weariness and indolence. Sleepiness (1st day). Sleepiness while walking and during rest (1st day). Sleepiness, yawning and exhaustion, in the forenoon (7th day). Sleepiness, so that he could have fallen asleep immediately; this gradually disappeared towards 10 o’clock, leaving only a slight pressure in the forehead and over the right eye in the forenoon (1st day). Great sleepiness after dinner, with weariness of the limbs on waking (2nd day). Great sleepiness between 11 and 12 a. m.; this sleepiness also continued during dinner at 3 p. m. and became irresistible; he was obliged to lie upon the sofa, contrary to his custom; sleep made restless by frightful dreams, and in spite of frequent waking he gradually aroused himself only after 2 hours (2nd day). Overpowering sleepiness at noon; in spite of being frequently disturbed he was able to rouse himself completely from sleep only after 2 hours (8th day). Sleepy and exhausted after rising in the morning (4th day). Sleepy and exhausted in the afternoon (2nd day). (Quiet sleep), (curative action), (1st day). Stupid sleep as if drunken; she heard nothing about her (after 6 days). Sleep usually stupid with fantasies from which she awoke in a fright. Sleeplessness. She was unable to fall asleep before midnight, after which she slept well. Uneasy sleep on account of the throng of ideas, which he could not keep away. Sleep restless, disturbed by many anxious dreams (5th night). Restless sleep with frequent waking (after 10 days). Sleep restless, with full of dreams, with frequent waking in the morning (6th day). Restless sleep at night. Sleep restless during night with many dreams and profuse perspiration (7th day). Night restless. Night restless with little sleep (1st night). Night restless, with many dreams (after 6 grs). Nights restless, frequently only slumbering, with constant waking or wakened by pain; for 20 days. She fell asleep late, awoke early, and then tossed about (after 28 days). She woke at 1 o’clock and could not fall asleep again. Dreams. Dreamy sleep; she was thronged with thoughts and unable to get any rest; with great anxiety. Sleep full of dreams through the whole proving. Many dreams after midnight (3rd night). Voluptuous dreams (after 22 days). Vivid dreams full of strife and disputes. Dreams of quarrels, vexation, and anger. Dream of journeys; yet she made no progress, which vexed her. Anxious, visionary dreams, during the heat, with frequent starting up and sweat; the next morning transient shivering, and in the forenoon thirst (after 27 days). Anxious painful dreams, as if she had a painful swollen cheek, or as if her child had been beaten. Sleep uneasy from frightful dreams (2nd day). Dreams of danger from water, fire and the like. Dreams of sickness, or of the breaking of one of her teeth. Dream of the death of an acquaintance. Nightmare (8th day).
Fever Chilliness.
Chilliness and yawning (soon), (2nd day). Chilliness, towards evening in the open air, and heat of the face, in the house; afterwards general perspiration. Chilliness in the evening with cold creeps over the back, disappearing after lying down. Chilliness at 3 p. m. (23rd day). Chilliness at 6 p. m.; she was obliged to lie down, after which the chilliness disappeared; after an hour she rose up and the chilliness returned with chattering of the teeth and shivering again disappearing after lying down, and so on frequently till 10 o’clock (during menstruation). Chilliness at 7 p. m. with shaking and tearing in the head, with peevishness, lasting for 4 minutes; followed on lying down by perspiration, lasting a quarter of an hour with frequent twitchings in the limbs. Chilliness from 7 to 8 p. m. without subsequent heat (39th day). Chilliness at 8 p. m. disappearing after lying down. during menstruation, (twelfth and seventeenth days). Chilliness at 9 p.m. which disappears after lying down. Frequent chilliness in the afternoon. Extreme chilliness. Chill at 9 p. m. which disappears in the bed, followed by sweat during sleep, without thirst. Shaking chill in the forenoon in the open air, lasting a quarter of an hour without subsequent heat. Shaking chill from afternoon till evening, disappearing after lying down, with pain and a feeling of heaviness of the head followed by heat in the bed (24th day). Short shaking chill at 3 p. m. Alternations of chill, heat, and sweat, in the afternoon (4th day). Cold (a few minutes after 2nd dose). Coldness in the evening, she was unable to get warm, with headache extending down from the vertex. Marble like coldness of the skin. Shivering for half an hour in the evening, followed by flushes of heat, and lying down perspiration, without thirst (9th day). Shivering (soon after dose), which occurred again at noon (1st day). Sensation of chilliness along the spine (almost immediately); with cold sweat on the forehead, and more or less on the whole body (immediately). Cold limbs; (after quarter of an hour). Extremities cold (after quarter of an hour). A peculiar and very distressing sensation of coldness in the hands, feet, and back for a long time after the attack. Heat. Increased warmth in the body, and rush of the blood to the head, with vertigo and confusion of the head; while the forehead and cheeks were warmer than usual to touch, the temperature of the hands seemed lower than normal (after 20 minutes). Night restless; a feeling of great warmth does not permit her to fall asleep. A peculiar sensation of warmth over the whole body after eating (2nd day). Heat in the afternoon, followed by chilliness; in the evening after lying down, sweat with thirst till morning; during the chill frequent flushes of heat, and during the heat frequent chilliness; even during the perspiration there were cold creepings as soon as she uncovered herself (11th day). Heat with confusion of the head and a fretful mood, towards evening (9th day). Heat with perspiration over the whole body, without thirst; in the evening (27th day). Heat at night followed by perspiration and only a little thirst (10th day). Fever towards evening (2nd day). Febrile attack, in the evening, pulse hard and rapid (1st day). Face hot and hands cold. Transient heat in the face, which is red and hot to touch, followed by chilliness towards evening (1st day). Much heat of the face and head (5th day). Great heat of the face and upper lip and even the hands were warmer than usual, without increased rapidity of the pulse (soon), (1st day). Sweat. Increased perspiration (after 7 grs). More perspiration than usual (after 9 grs). Perspiration in the morning in the bed; which was not exhausting (38th day). Perspiration in the morning; she awoke at 3 a. m. and perspired, chiefly on the chest, till 6; after rising she was weak, as after a long walk; she could scarcely walk (after 30 days). She perspired at night on waking; without relief of the pain (after 20 days). Perspiration towards morning. Perspiration with weakness on every exertion and motion (after 30 days). Bedewed with perspiration (a few minutes after 2nd dose). Profuse perspiration (after 14 grs). Profuse perspiration during the night (after 7 grs. ). Profuse perspiration, all over; at night especially on the limbs. Profuse perspiration on alternate nights, especially on the limbs. Exhausting perspiration; with anxiety, in the afternoon (41st day). A cold clammy sweat broke out, accompanied by shivering. Skin dry and hot; no sweat followed, even till morning (1st night).
