TEMPERAMENT–
Dull, listless, unable to perform mental labor.
Stopped nose, with lost, or defective smell.
Scanty, thick, difficult coryza (sub-acute catarrh).
Nose constantly stopped : worse at night and in morning, when clearing out begins; pressure at root of nose and in forehead; eyeballs heavy, congested and tender.
CORYZA.
THICK, CHRONIC CORYZA–
DISCHARGES–
Scanty, bluish or yellowish, tough and thick (slate-colored, also): must be hawked out of posterior nares.
Dry crusts, followed by bleeding. (Chronic catarrh.)
WORSE–
In the morning.
Nose stuffed up at night; must breathe through mouth.
From dust or smoke.
SENSATIONS–
Nose stopped.
Mucous membranes thickened (sub-acute catarrh).
Rawness of nose after clearing out thick mucus.
APPEARANCES–
Throat purplish-red, edematous, or pitted; both fauces and tonsils.
Red-purple and glossy; feels dry when breathing, and on swallowing.
COUGH.
DRY COUGH–
Teasing, dry cough through the day.
Dry cough, with oppressed feeling in chest.
Dry, hacking (sub-acute) cough, without sputa; lungs feel as though smoke had been inhaled; nose dry and obstructed.
SPUTA–
Tough, difficult, and rather scanty.
Grayish, yellowish, or bluish.
WORSE–
From exertion.
In morning.
From deep breathing.
BETTER–
From clearing out mucus.
CHEST–
Soreness in upper part of chest.
Chest feels clogged and full.
Feels as if smoke had been inhaled.
SENSATIONS–
Soreness, fullness, oppression of the chest; worse from deep breathing, or exertion, especially on right side; with tight dry cough (Senega).
Feels tired all over; desires to keep still. (Acute and sub- acute catarrh.)
As if smoke had been inhaled.
SPECIAL–
Sub-acute bronchitis.
Chronic catarrhs.
