CHLOROSIS

Girl of 22, previously well. Three months ago menses stopped during a severe cold. Formerly menses were scanty but often; slight leucorrhoea in between. Symptoms: Face pale, waxlike, expression of apathy. Patient is always chilly without following heat. Frontal headache, stitching, worse evening. Throbbing and buzzing in head, especially on right side, worse in right carotid.

The least exertion causes severe palpitation wit chest oppression; heart sounds normal. Night cough with some expectoration. Auscultation normal. Aversion to meat and vegetables; meat, especially fatty, is immediately vomited. Stools hard. Sensation of tingling in feet as if “going” to sleep, “aggravated by walking. General condition worse evenings when she is “dead tired.” Has had 3 months of allopathic treatment. Sepia 200c t.i.d. Menstruation appeared in 6 days, but scanty with general improvement, which continued for about a month without menstruation. Sepia was given daily for 3 days. A week later menses appeared. General improvement continued, and in 2 weeks patient was cured.

Sulphur

Sulphur deserves top ranking above all remedies for chlorosis. With it alone I have often cured beginning cases quickly. It corresponds here to Pulsatilla, and can be often given with it in alternation.
