Jan. 7, 1949: Medium height and weight, dark complexion. Never much medicine. Male, married, 48 years.

On tension most of the time; does not know how to relax. Sleep poor.

Deep depression spells; blames himself for anything. During them; gets angry easily, but soon over it lately; used to be angry a long time. Remorse follows and then threat of suicide; this better recently.

Headache severe for many years, various locations. Few night ago severe pain occipital so could not move, better gradually. This 3 times night. Next day soreness there.

Attacks of dyspnoea, seems to be no room in the lungs. Usually at night.

Tendency to colds but over them easily.

Worse noise always.

Two nervous breaks 1 or 2 years apart; away from work for weeks.

Tonsillectomy at 8 years; cut too deep; head drawn to the left for 2 weeks. Voice not clear since; saliva increasing with gurgling noise in throat.

Swollen jaws at one time.

Varicosis left leg.

Tooth enamel very hard.

Has had pain in testicles.

Dust in eye once started a skin infection which spread; long to cure.

Warm blooded, very.

Perspiration free in general; profuse on feet; sometimes very offensive odor, again none. Ten or 15 years ago used a powder which suppressed perspiration entirely; then stopped it and now odor only in spells.

Depression spells developed since this suppression. Rather suddenly, like a heavy cloud; nothing worth while; lasts 2 or 3 days and gone suddenly too.

Irritation over trifles, this always.

Sleep recently, in the last years: lies awake in bed quietly. mind busy; cannot get to sleep; then wakens in the night.

Swelling right occipital, soft, as if filled with fluid, Size now small peach; Sometimes size large marble.

Appetite moderate, less for the month. Thirst marked. Treatment: Psor. 10M.

Jan. 10: When first married, 1939, Went into semi-consciousness and talked to his father, who was dead; was very found of his father. Also asked wife never to put him into an institution; did not remember this afterward.

A mother-complex has interfered with his normal development from birth. Brother five years older always catered to and praised; he was always put down, made to feel inferior; all sorts of services demanded of him. Mother did not want him. Two breakdowns undoubtedly due to this inferiority complex plus necessity for working in noise all the time.

Wife has been very wise, has uncovered causes, has shown him he is as good as the next one and better than most; now he is ready to take his place as the head of their home and assert himself to his mother who still comes into the home for visits.

Headache very severe and recurring.

Jan. 14: Chill yesterday followed by very severe headache in evening. Today scab came off the swelling on occipital and a discharge from it now.

Jan. 21: Cyst opened on 15th and discharged mucus and bits of blood; size went down steadily until now no larger than dime and covered with scaly scab. Soreness in it all gone.

No more headache or other symptoms; seems to him all connected with the size and pressure of the cyst.

Better in general and looks it.

Chronic: itching left shoulder frequently.

Haemorrhoids bled before 1923.

May 18: Been very well until the last 10 days perhaps. depression returned; quite deep once. Irritability returned. Head ache severe yesterday. Sensation feet as if blood surged into them; tingling. Sensation cardiac pressure. Treatment: Psor. 10M.

June 2: symptoms gone back to original ones. Deep depression; bad thoughts. Sensation pressure cardiac region and some left arm. Cannot lie left side, Desire deep breath occasionally; thinks breathing shallow. Weak on walking short distance; can recover soon. Treatment: Aur. 1M.

Jan. 28, 1950: Been very well since last report until lately. For a week or more: return of the pressure under sternum; seems to be in the bones; extending sometimes down to right hypochondrium and a little on sides of upper chest, not into back or arms. Dyspnoea not so bad, but sensation of collapse of sternum inwards. Depression threatens but not severe. Headache father apart and lighter. Treatment: Aur. 1M.

Mar. 2: Vertigo continues, veers toward the left. Pain occipital continues. Must move slowly so head will not feel so unnatural. Head feels puffed up or crowded for space. Perspiration feet continues but odor less. Much depressed. Treatment: Aur.10M.

June 26: Been doing very well. Now more headache and the depression back again. Pain one sport occipital as before. Treatment: Aur 10M.

Oct. 16: Not right for last two weeks, before that fine. Ambition low. Spirits rather low. Working nights until midnight for 3 weeks, recently, then headache for long time before could sleep. Vertigo 2 days, worse yesterday and in bed from it today. Headache sharp shooting here and there. No stomach symptoms. Regular heart, feels heavy. Dyspnoea. Worse noises again in his office. This had gone. Treatment: Aur. 50M.

Jan. 25, 1951: None of the bad headaches and almost no depression. Very little vertigo. Dyspnoea in spells but not so bad; feels as if might be a constriction in throat with pressure there. When child frequent epistaxis. Also nightmare. When 18 one summer when arms covered with eruption, pustules bled when pressed; one very large one, others small (given sulphur and molasses). Glasses now press on nose and get it sore; on change in rims do any good; now has adhesive on nose piece and better. Odor breath bad after mouth closed for some time.

Oct. 23: Depression less, not so frequent. Week ago, after being up in the night, began to shake and moan so had to be wakened; said then more tired than when went to bed. Few nights later, after being up to bathroom, had a time of being “limp” and had to be roused again. No shaking this time. Does not remember this. would answer wife thought. Said dyspnoea.

Nov. 3: Been very well; thinks no more depression worth mentioning. None of his attacks with dyspnoea, etc. Three days ago, while out of town on little trip, bought some oysters to make a stew for supper (wife ate them without harm) then some nausea few hours later and vomiting; accompanied soreness region liver and gall bladder. No diarrhoea. Weakness not marked; feeling quite well today. Treatment: Aur. 50M.

Oct. 27, 1952: Much better and distension gone, also great quantities gas passed. Exam: region appendix o.k. slight soreness region gall bladder. Last night: lying right side soreness in left side and vice versa. Severe headache one night recently. Edge off depression, none really. Treatment: Aur. CM.

Jan. 17, 1953: Midnight last night began with diarrhoea. Seven times before 7 A.M. Continue at intervals all day. Very weak by P.M. Tendency to stagger. Headache severe all P.M. of 15th. No more trouble with the side. Respiration shallow frequently on going to bed. Treatment: Aur. CM.
