A SERIES OF CASES HOMOEOPATHICALLY TREATED

She had very painful and profuse menses, which appeared every eighteen or twenty days, profuse leucorrhoea, like the white of an egg, colic, a blown-out feeling and diarrhoea before the menses but very constipated during menses. She had had two babies, the last one eight years ago.

I examined her and found sycotic excrescences on her genitals, the cervix ulcerated and a fibroid tumor about the size of an apple. She told me she had been vaccinated several times so I prescribed Thuja 30, twice a day.

Oct. 20. The warty excrescences were disappearing. I repeated Thuja 30.

Oct.28. The warty excrescences had entirely disappeared, her blown out feeling was worse, so I prescribed Bovista 3, frequently, and repeated it several times.

February 20, 1929. The blown-out feeling had entirely gone, the diarrhoea before menses had disappeared, the leucorrhoea was diminished, the tumor was a little smaller, there was less constipation, but she had hard colicky pains. I prescribed Colocynthis 6, every two hours.

March 2. The pains had disappeared and the tumor was still diminished, but the blown-out feeling and diarrhoea before the menses had come back, so I went back to Bovista 3. I repeated Bovista several times and the bowels began to work freely again.

April 28. The tumor was diminishing, the blown-out feeling was going away rapidly, the leucorrhoea had increased and changed color and I kept on with Bovista.

July 31. I was called to see her at her home, she had a profuse haemorrhage, which increased at the least movement. I gave her Trillium pend.3.

August 2. The haemorrhage had entirely disappeared. She had a heavy headache and thought the skull was going to burst, extreme debility, roaring sound in both ears. I prescribed China off.3.

August 10. Blown-out feeling worse and the leucorrhoea had come back profusely, but the tumor had diminished and I went back to Bovista, which I repeated several times.

Sept. 29. She had a sick headache and was very constipated, on awaking she vomited, was hungry with aversion to food, so I prescribed Nux vom.3.

Oct. 10. Bowels work freely, no vomiting, no headache, appetite good, tumor the size of an egg. I went back to Bovista, which I repeated several times.

December 6. She came over to see me and told me that the day before she had had very terrible labor pains and a feeling as if something was coming out of her uterus. She went to the toilet and passed something which she brought to show me. It was small fibroid tumor ths size of a pigeons egg. There was a small haemorrhage when she passed the tumor and her cervix was open.

On November 29 i was called to attend her on confinement.

Two allopathic doctors, members of her family, were periodically examining her and they were surprised that homoeopathy could accomplish such a miracle. I expect to be able to convert at least one of them to homoeopathy.

CASE VI.

Mr. P.R., age 38 years. He is a miner and came to see me on April 15, 1930. My diagnosis was pulmonary tuberculosis. His symptoms were: Hollow, dry cough, with bloody, mucous expectoration, dyspnoea, emaciated and rapidly falling away. He had gone down four kilograms in less than two months. There was high fever from six oclock in the afternoon until midnight, with profuse sweating, insomnia, pulse 95. On examination I found that the apex of the left lung did not expand and the vesicular breathing was diminished. He had difficult breathing. I prescribed Bacillinum 500, a dose every fifteen days.

May 16. The dyspnoea had diminished, the expectoration showed no blood, he had slept well lately, the fever had gone down considerably and he was feeling constitutionally better. I repeated Bacillinum 500.

June 2. The dyspnoea had disappeared, the expectoration was scanty, the cough less and there was no fever. I repeated Bacillinum.

July 1. I found the vesicular breath sounds and the expansion of apex normal. He coughed only when he breathed cold air in the evening and sometimes on rising from the bed. There was no fever, no pain and no expectoration.

The next day he went back to the mine. Some of relatives tell me lately that he has gained from five to six kilograms and that he feels another man.

One should be extremely careful in making a diagnosis of pulmonary tuberculosis on cases of such short standing without the confirmatory evidence of the microscope and x-ray. ED.

CASE VII-HYPERTROPHIC CIRRHOSIS OF THE LIVER.

CARLOS ROJAS S., M.D.

Mr. J.G., age 45 years, a railroad watchman. He had been drinking hard for many years, so much so that he was drunk at least twice a day. I was called to see him on October 21, 1927. He had a severe pain in the hepatic region, his liver pressed out the false ribs, the conjunctivae were slightly yellow, there were flushes of heat to the head and sometimes all over the body, anorexia, sinking feeling in the stomach, haemorrhoids with violent itching, diarrhoea and constipation alternating, and scanty urine. A diagnosis of hypertrophic cirrhosis of the liver was made, and I prescribed Sulphur 200.

On November 3rd he came to see me again. The pain in the hepatic region was better, his liver was still large, the flushes of heat had disappeared, the anorexia still persisted, the sinking feeling in the stomach was better, the haemorrhoids were better, there was no diarrhoea but he was very constipated and every time he evacuated the bowels he was not satisfied, the urine was less scanty. On account of the alcoholic origin of the trouble I prescribed Nux vomica 30.

On November 3rd he came to see me again. The pain in the hepatic region was better, his liver was still large, the flushes of heat had disappeared, the anorexia still persisted, the sinking feeling in the stomach was better, the haemorrhoids were better, there was no diarrhoea but he was very constipated and every time the evacuated the bowels he was not satisfied, the urine was less scanty. On account of the alcoholic origin of the trouble I prescribed Nux vomica 30.

November 28. Everything a little better. Nux vomica repeated.

December 23. No pain at all in the hepatic region, liver nearly normal in size, no sinking feeling in the stomach, appetite good, haemorrhoids better, evacuation of the bowels every day but still a little constipated, urine normal. Sick headaches had appeared, so I repeated the Nux vomica 30.

January 19, 1928. Has felt well since the last medicine but two days ago he had had a sick headache, blurred vision, had appetite, burning sensation along the digestive tract with coldness of the whole body, mouth and tongue felt scalded. The liver was normal in size and slightly sensitive to touch. Iris versicolor 30.

He later reported that he had had no more trouble with his liver had given up drinking.

CASE VIII-CERVICAL ADENITIS.

J.M., a boy of 9 years, came to see me July 10, 1928. There was a scrofulous diathesis. His cervical glands were enlarged and indurated, they felt soft and movable. There were no other symptoms. Lapis albus 12.

August 2. The glands were reduced one-half in size and were less indurated. Since the last visit he had had night sweats, sour eructations, stomach hard and distended, craving for undigestible foods, diarrhoeas with undigested stools. Calc.carb.6.

September 5. His mother said that after a week the glands, diarrhoea, sour eructations and sweats had disappeared, but she wanted a tonic for him as his nutrition was impaired. Calc.carb. 30, once a day.

March 1929. He came to see me for a cold. I scarcely knew him he had improved so much.

CASE IX-CHLOROSIS.

Miss M.R., age 18, came to see me May 2, 1930. She was a chloro-anaemic girl with marked plethora. Her limbs were always cold, her face hot and flushed. There were congestive headaches with a hammering sensation, and she always felt extremely tired. Her menses were always very profuse and lasted too long, intermittent only for a few days sometimes. She had a profuse milk leucorrhoea which was corrosive. Ferrum met. 30.

June 8. Feeling much better. Limbs less cold, flushes nearly disappeared, last menstruation less profuse and appeared three weeks after the previous one but lasted only four days, leucorrhoea the same. Repeated Ferrum met.

July 11. Less tired. Last menstruation on time, leucorrhoea a little less, limbs scarcely ever cold, no hot flushes. The last menstruation, however, was very painful and she had neuralgic pains in her ovaries and a rheumatic pain in her back. Bones very painful and very nervous. Actaea racemosa 30.

August 11. Last menstruation normal, no pain at all, and she felt like a new girl. Two days before she had an attack of diarrhoea probably due to eating too much pork. The stool changed color every time her bowels moved, and she had and evacuation after eating. Her mouth was dry but she was not thirsty, the tongue was white. Pulsatilla 6.

Since this time she has been perfectly well.

ARLOME.

J.W. WAFFENSMITH, M.D.

On the occasion of my recent visit to Guadalajara, Mexico, in 1931, my attention was directed to several specimens of a small worm in alcohol, about one inch in length and the thickness of a hat pin. The name of the worm was Arlome. The information given herewith was supplied by Drs. J.F. Gonzalez and Ignacio Montoya of Guadalajara.

William A. Yingling, MD, author of "Accoucheur's Emergency Manual". Born: 12-01-1851 - Died : 03-04-1933
YINGLING, lived and practiced in Emporia, KS from 1896 until his death. He was educated for medical missionary work, but after receiving his appointment to go to Bombay, India he became ill and could not carry out that mission. He filled the pulpit at Findlay, OH for seven years, and then moved to Dodge City where he engaged in the cattle business. He named the Ness county town of Nonchalanta in 1886. He reluctantly returned to the practice of medicine to relieve the suffering in the area north of Dodge City. His practice became extensive, extending to the neighboring states. He was quite religious and missed Methodist church services just once in 32 years.
