ORTHODOX MEDICINE AND HOMOEOPATHY A COMPARISON

Another trouble frequently found in women is the degeneration of the breast, which often takes the from of mastitis. The ordinary doctor treats mastitis either by incision and draining, or he sends his case to the surgeon who often amputates the breast on the assumption that it might become cancerous. Homoeopathy can easily cure this alarming looking breast degeneration, and phytolacca is the specific for this condition.

Many women, and men, develop fissures at the anus, and sinuses and fistulae. A fistula is a channel or pipe apparently produced by Nature with the object of draining away diseased material. The orthodox treatment for sinuses, fistulae, etc., is surgical. This condition can be extremely easily cured by homoeopathy. The most extraordinary case I have ever had was that of a young man who wrote to me from the West Indies that he had seven fistulae at the anus, and that this condition had troubled him for years. I sent him some Silica, potentized sand, which is curative for that condition, I forget in what strength, and after about six weeks the man was completely cured.

I have selected on purpose a number of complaints which are incurable to orthodox medicine and which are easily curable by homoeopathic treatment in order to show the superiority of homoeopathy over orthodox treatment. In the numerous cases mentioned, the orthodox doctor is resourceless, and the only advice he can give is “Go to the surgeon”. Men and women have an instinctive and wholesome dislike of operations. After all, every unnecessary operation causes mutilation, and deterioration of the general health.

Those who doubt the great advantages of homoeopathy may argue : “If homoeopathy is as beneficial as is claimed, the orthodox doctors, who form the great majority, would of course have studied homoeopathy and would treat patients homoeopathically. As they do not do so it is perfectly clear that homoeopathy does not cure. Every honest doctor desires to cure.” At first sight this argument seems convincing. I used the identical argument for years before I had studied homoeopathy.

The doctors are wrongly taught. For five or six years they are compelled to absorb masses of absolutely useless knowledge in order to pass examinations which will enable them to practise.

The budding doctor is taught everything imaginable, chemistry, physics, anatomy, physiology, pathology, etc. He becomes a walking encyclopedia of theoretical knowledge, and he is taught everything except the art of curing the sick. At last, he is taught like a parrot, for fever give Quinine, for heart disease give Digitalis, for rheumatism give Salicylates, for sleeplessness give Veronal, for cancer give Morphia, etc. That is the stock of his knowledge. I know excellent doctors who use not more than a dozen drugs, and hand out the drugs like automatic machines, exactly as is done at the outpatients department of a hospital, where people in droves get given the white mixture or the yellow mixture or the brown mixture.

The orthodox doctor will ask, if interest in homoeopathy, what is your specific for heart disease, and expects the answer Digitalis. If the homoeopathic doctor replies : “We have no specific for heart disease, we give whatever remedy is called for by the totality of the symptoms”, the doctor gets utterly confused, and if he looks at a homoeopathic textbooks, he finds that under the heading ” heat disease” several hundred remedies are mentioned, and he will exclaim that this thing is too complicated and too difficult.

Mr. Chairman, Ladies and Gentlemen, I do not want you to be under the impression that I am a particularly wonderful healer. I am nothing of the kind. I have described cures of my own because I imagine that you would rather hear of my own cures than those made by others of which I have merely heard. I am not a book- worm, but I am a practical man. Every observant layman can do as well as I can, and probably better.

It must not be thought that minute quantities of drugs will cure. They will cure only if they are homoeopathically prepared. People suffering from sleeplessness due to over-activity of the brain may be cured with a millionth of a grain of Coffee, but they would not be cured by swallowing a tiny fragment of a coffee bean. Homoeopathic drugs receive their power by what is called potentization. If we wish to make a homoeopathic preparation of coffee, a grain of coffee is ground for more than an hour with 100 grains of sugar of milk.

The constant trituration breaks up the coffee into small particles, and thus the first potency is made. Then the whole of the mixture is thrown away with the exception of 1 grain. A 100 grains of sugar is added and again, for one hour, trituration takes place, breaking up the fragments of coffee into still smaller particles. Then this process is repeated a third time, and after the third trituration we obtain a mixture in which there is a millionth of a grain of coffee in each grain of sugar.

Further potentizations are made by shaking up this mixture with 100 grains of water or alcohol, etc. If we look at the first triturations under a powerful microscope, the fragments of the drug seem huge. when the second trituration has been made the fragments are much reduced in size. After the third trituration the fragments are ultra small, and then the drug becomes colloidal and acts far more powerfully, being easily absorbed by the cells. I wish to impress upon you the difference between small doses of an ordinary drug and highly potentized homoeopathic drugs, because the difference is all-important.
