CANCER SHOULD BE TREATED MEDICINALLY

The late Dr. Robert Bell, whose results have borne the severest scrutiny, formulated a balanced dietary of the low protein type as desirable and necessary for cancer sufferers. Mr. Sampson Handley, well-know cancer surgeon, reviewing Mr. Ellis Barkers conclusions and advice, remarks that a constitutional factor in the background seems necessary for the production of cancer. Mr. Ellis Barker regards this responsible factor as chronic poisoning of the tissues in some form or other, such as poisoning from a chronically stagnant bowel, poisoning through vitamin starvation, or through the habitual consumption of boiling hot drink, etc.

Mr. Sanpson Handley attributes responsibility to a sluggish lymph circulation. In the practice of those who have been most successful in the non-surgical treatment of cancer, the exclusion of all flesh foods and fish from the dietary and the uniform use of wholemeal cereals, fresh vegetables, salading and raw fruit has been recommended, and that diet has definitely contributed to their success in the treatment of cancer.

III. RELIEF FOR CANCER SUFFERERS.

The insistent necessity for controlling urgent symptoms, such as pain or haemorrhage or obstruction, often must have priority in the treatment of cancer. The constitutional treatment desirable in such cases often has to give place to the urgently necessary. Relief must be given precedence over curative treatment. It is not in every case that relief and curative methods can run together.

Both objects are ideal, and neither is to be lightly jettisoned. A striking instance of such parallelism in treatment has recently come to us from France. In the Pasteur Institute in Paris, under the control of Professor Calmette, a treatment of cancer by fractional doses of snake poison is being carried out. All sorts and conditions of cancer, in very stage, before operation or afterwards, have been systematically thus treated, and the results have been remarkable.

The treatment was adopted for the relief of pain and as a substitute for morphia. Obvious lessening of pain was experienced after the fourth or fifth dose, acute cases of discomfort no longer occurred, in some instances growth was arrested, and in yet others healing was complete. Recovery did not take place in those cases where cancer jaundice was advanced and in those where the treatment had been begun too late. We read in the report: “Mais nous les avons presque tonjours soulages”.

This is an elementary presentation of the case for medicinal cancer treatment, envisaged from a homoeopathic viewpoint. The special adaptation of the Law of Similars to the therapeutic solution of the cancer problem is scarcely half a century old, and is not to be found in the personal work of Hahnemann. As a guide in the infinite complexity of the cancer labyrinth, homoeopathy may yet appear as a light shining in darkness to the original worker study the cancer problem.

An undercurrent of transcendental influence activates the pre-cancerous state, the introduction of protective mechanisms and the march of spontaneous recovery. Such subtle phenomena have their counterpart in the ultra-physics of high potencies, the strict parallelism and antagonism of drug action and disease action, and the interfusing of local and constitutional action. All these matters are problems of vital energy, and the next century of experience and discovery may introduce a new conception which will arm the physician with the amplest powers for prevention, relief and cure. Homoeopathy is showing the way and brings a new hope.

“The Sodium sulphites found in bleached dried apricots, bleached dried peaches, bleached dried pears, and all other forms of bleached evaporated fruits, is a poison. The experiments conducted by Dr. Daniel R. Lucas upon dogs are never to be forgotten. At first under the influence of Sodium sulphite they actually appeared to thrive. They seemed better in every way. Their weight increased. All the evidence indicated a victory for the bleachers and dopers.

Dr. Lucas took his time. Slowly the Sulphites attacked the kidneys of the animals, eventually breaking them down. Sodium sulphite was doubly dangerous for the reason that it first disarmed its unsuspecting victim and then struck.” ALFRED McCANN, The Science of Keeping Young.
