Respiratory Organs

Larynx, Trachea, and Bronchi. Pain in the air-passages, as after much coughing. Rawness and hoarseness in the morning after rising, with dry cough. Tickling in the trachea with cough, which was relieved after eating. Voice. Hoarseness, worse in the evening. After hoarseness during the day, she had loss of voice at night; awoke with coldness, swelling of the pit of the stomach, cough, difficult expiration, and anxious sweat; she was unable to get her breath. Cough and Expectoration. Tickling cough. Tickling cough, with constriction of the larynx and chest. Hacking cough in the evening, especially in bed. Short hacking cough frequently from tickling in the larynx (first day). Cough, from dryness in the throat, in the morning; as soon as mucus is expectorated it disappears. Suffocative cough in the evening an hour after going to sleep. Rough cough, with pain in the throat as if sore. Cough which impedes the breath. Dry cough day and night. Severe dry cough in the morning on rising and nearly the whole day; it shakes the abdomen, as if everything would fall out; she is obliged to hold the bowels with the hands and sit down; loose rales in the chest until something is coughed up. Cough without expectoration, from tickling in the larynx, in the evening for three days. Dry cough only at night, when lying on the right side, for several nights. Cough, with greenish, purulent expectoration, arising from a small spot, an inch in size, in the right side of the chest. Cough with expectoration. Cough with purulent expectoration (after fourteen days). The former dry cough became loose (second day). Whitish-yellow mucous expectoration. Greenish purulent expectoration after dry cough. Thick greenish expectoration from a vomica, which formed in the right thorax. Respiration. Catching of the breath on inspiration, with oppression of the chest. Dyspnoea after eating. It seems as if the breath remained arrested in the chest. Fear of suffocation, in the evening, in bed, remained arrested in the chest. Fear of suffocation, in the evening, in bed, before going to sleep, lying with closed eyes; this only disappears after sitting up and opening the eyes; it prevented sleep the whole night, with mucus in throat.

Chest

Rattling and piping in the chest for an hour at a time, in the evening, in bed. Trembling in the chest, like crying. Anxiety in the chest, in the morning. Anxiety in the chest, after eating. Speedy fatigue in the chest and organs of mastication, while eating. Cold feeling in the chest (seventh day). Burning in the chest, more on the right side. Burning in the chest, with pressive pain. Violent pain in the whole chest, as if it would burst, with sore pain in it. Constriction of the chest; the whole chest seems oppressed, or over-fatigued. Sudden constriction of the chest, as if she should breathe deeply. The chest seems contracted. Contraction of the chest, with suffocation, in the morning, in bed; she thought she would die, with stitches in the heart on speaking, and a sensation on moving the arm as though the heart and chest would be torn to pieces. Digging-pinching and tension in the upper part of the chest. Violent compression of the chest, with arrest of breathing, when sitting, in the morning. Oppression of the middle of the chest. Pain as of oppression in the middle of the chest, when touched and when not, with oppression of breathing, for quarter of an hour. Painful twisting in and beneath the chest. Tearing stitches from the pit of the stomach into the chest, on rising after stooping. Painful nodules in the breasts. Sticking pain in the lower portion of the female breast, which was aggravated by pressing upon it, and which arrested breathing. Front. Stitches in the sternum, as with knives, during motion. Sides. Stitching in the side from coughing. The pain in the side ceases after a dry cough, and afterwards she is obliged to cough frequently without its recurring. Stitches in the right cavity of the chest. Stitches in the right side of the chest on every breath, as if something sore was there. Stitching below the right breast, so that she could not sit still, when sitting and writing; it disappeared after rising. Stitches in the lower portion of the right side of the chest, extending into the axilla. Stitches, with oppression of breathing, now in the lower portion of the left chest, now in the right shoulder-joint, now in the right flank, with some dry cough, which increased the pain, in the morning. Stitches in the upper part of the left side of the chest, and sometimes also in the right side. Sharp (burning) stitches in the left side of the chest, even when sitting. Pressive stitches under the left ribs.

Heart and Pulse

Pressure of the heart, almost like pinching. Great palpitation; every beat is felt in the head. Great palpitation, in the morning on waking; she was obliged to lie quite still without opening the eyes and without speaking. Palpitation of the heart in the evening, without anxiety (after twenty-four days). Palpitation after breakfast, at other times after eating. Great palpitation, when singing in church.

Neck and Back

Neck. A feeling in the neck as if the skin on a small spot was raised up. Stiffness in the neck. Stiffness in the left side of the neck. Tension in the neck. Swelling of the cervical glands. Back. The back is painful on the left side, so that she cannot lie upon it, for three nights in succession. Dorsal. Sticking tension in the right shoulder-blade. Painful tension between the shoulder-blades, relieved by rubbing. Pressing pain in the back between the shoulder-blades, as if she had been hurt or sprained, with a similar pain in the forepart of the chest on moving the arm. Stitches between the shoulder-blades. Lumbar. Alternating stitches in the back above the right hip. Stiffness in the small of the back. Pain in the small of the back when sitting, as if menstruation would appear. Drawing pain in the small of the back, and a feeling as if it were broken, when walking, standing, and lying. Sharp drawing across the small of the back, very sensitive to every step. Pressive pain in the small of the back. Severe pains in the small of the back. Stitches just above the small of the back on deep breathing. A stitch in the small of the back, extending down into the thigh with every breath. Violent pain in the loins if she rises after sitting some time. Sacral. Pain in the lower portion of the back. Pain as from an ulcer under the skin, on the lowest end of the spine, for the most part only when sitting and lying. Pain in the sacrum during stool, with distension of the abdomen, extending up into the chest. A sharp stitch in the sacrum. Pain in the coccyx; on touching the part it became burning. Cutting-drawing from the anus through the coccyx between the stools. Dragging bruised pain in the coccyx. Single jerks in the coccyx towards the bladder, which compelled her to urinate.

Extremities in General

An internal trembling of the limbs, and involuntary twitching of the knees, legs, and feet, on going to sleep in the evening; they moved visibly, and he was obliged to draw them up. Cracking in the joints. Much pain in the joints at night. The joints feel as if broken. The joints are easily sprained. Frequent heaviness of all the limbs. Heaviness in all the limbs in the morning. Heaviness, and trembling of the legs and arms. Frequent sensation as if the hands and feet would go to sleep. At one time the right arm goes to sleep, at another the right foot, in the evening, in bed. Numb sensation in all the limbs, especially also in the head. Pain, when lying, in the ligaments of the elbows and knees. Pinching pain here and there in the limbs. Tearing-drawing pain in the fingers and toes. Pain, as from the pressure of a finger on the arms and limbs. Bruised sensation in all the limbs, especially on motion.

Superior Extremities

The arm goes to sleep, when resting upon it, and the leg when riding it over the other. A digging, extending down the arms, as if it were burrowing in the bone, less perceptible if she lies upon the arm. Drawing pain in the arms and hands. Shoulder. The shoulders are heavy and tired. On walking, the shoulders and chest seem oppressed and loaded. Tearing in the shoulder (disappearing on motion and rubbing). Much moisture in the axillae. Arm. Tearing pain in the bone of the right upper arm, towards the elbow. Tearing in the middle of the right upper arm, after midnight, when lying upon that side; she was unable to sleep on account of the pain. Severe tearing in the right upper arm, on raising the arm. Elbow. Burning and twinging pain in the right elbow, in the evening. Sticking pain below the bend of the left elbow, extending to the palm. Drawing-sticking in the tip of the elbow; the skin is painful, as if sore on slight touch, but not at all when grasped tightly. Forearm. Burning and stinging in the left forearm, frequently repeated, and sometimes extending into the shoulder, only transiently relieved by rubbing. Tensive pain in the wrist on moving it. Frequent painful boring in the condyles of the wrists. The wrist pains as if sprained. Hand. The hands go to sleep, daily. The hands go to sleep during rest. Numbness in the left hand, in the morning, in bed; it disappears after rising. Stitches, as with needles, in the left palm and also in the ball of the right hand. Drawing stitches in the outer margin of the hand, where the skin is painful on slight touch as if sore, but not at all on pinching it. Tearing in the hands. Fingers. Chilblains on the little finger. The fingers go to sleep, afterwards the whole hand goes to sleep. The middle finger-joints are painful on motion. Tension in the first joint of the middle finger, on motion. Stitches in the fingers. Stitches in the tips of the fingers. Tearing on the back of the fingers, and in the bones, disappearing on rubbing.
