Mind

      Forgetful.

Quiet disposition.

Rough, angular disposition.

Sensorium

      Vertigo : morning, after rising from bed; worse when walking, sitting up, or turning head; pulse accelerated, nausea, vomiting of food; better lying perfectly quiet; when going to sleep.

Inner Head

      Brain feels as if beaten, on slightest movement.

Heaviness and fulness in head in morning.

Violent (linear) pain in a small spot over left eye; pain short, sharp and defined.

Eyes

      Deposit of a chalky-looking white mass on anterior surface of lens.

Pterygium.

Purulent discharge; eczema impetigenoides on lids.

Left upper lid worse; lachrymation, itching and pressure; scrofulous ophthalmia.

Herpes conjunctiva bulbi; veins enlarged, running horizontally towards the cornea, ending in little blisters near edge of cornea; worse from crying.

Ears

      Dull, throbbing pain day and night; thin, watery, excoriating discharge.

Vesicular eruption on membrana, then suppuration and perforation.

Membrana tympani permanently injured and hearing greatly diminished.

Itching and swelling, with painful throbbing in external meatus; in three or four days, discharge of a watery fluid, smelling like fish-pickle, which causes vesicles wherever it touches; ear is bluish-red, as if oedematous; hearing impaired.

Sensation : s if something suddenly closed up in the ear; as if air whistled through left eustachian tube, when snuffing or belching, air passes through it.

Nose

      Fluent coryza, lachrymation and hoarseness when walking in open air.

Face

      Sudden flashes of redness over the face.

Twitching and distortion of facial muscles, worse when talking.

Ringworm.

Teeth

      Salivation; gums bleed easily and profusely.

Mouth

      Breath has a garlic-like odor.

Throat

      Sore throat, dry sensation in fauces, better when eating and drinking.

Eating and Drinking

Stomach

      Weak feeling, like faintness in the stomach, after congestion of blood in head and nape.

Abdomen

      Pinching in abdomen.

      Flatus peculiar and stinking.

Urine

      Increased urination.

High-colored, acid urine.

Drop sticking at mouth of urethra.

Male Sexual Organs

      Increased sexual desire.

Herpes on scrotum and perineum.

Heart Pulse

      Dull pain in region of heart, when lying on left side; better when lying on back.

Palpitation of heart, with throbbing through whole body and full pulse, followed by sweat.

Neck Back

      Painful sensitiveness of spine, from last cervical to fifth dorsal vertebra; sensitive to pressure and touch.

Pain in sacrum. See sciatica.

Lower Limbs

      Pain in sacrum, passing into right thigh down sciatic nerve, worse when pressing at stool, coughing, laughing, also when lying on the affected side. Sciatica.

C. Hering
Hering got the degree of M. D. from the University of Wuezburg with highest honours. The theme of his thesis was "De'Medicina Futura" (The medicine of future). Hering left Germany for West Indies and finally arrived at Philadelphia in Jan, 1833. He established a homeopathic school at Allentown, Pennsylvania, commonly known as "Allentown Academy". Soon he became very popular as a physician. He is known as the 'Father of Homeopathy' in America.
