CORYZA.
FLUENT CORYZA-
Fluent coryza, with thin, watery discharge from one or both nostrils, until nose becomes stopped; discharge acrid.
Fauces look dry, dark-red, or purple.
With cough; eyes red; feeling of sand in lids; scalded, raw feeling, especially edges of lids; lachrymation hot.
DISCHARGES –
Acrid, watery; parts burn; or, Thicker and scanty, with burning and soreness.
WORSE –
Riding in cold air increases obstruction of nose.
At night.
BETTER –
Blowing nose.
SPECIAL –
Syphilitic cases.
Chronic pharyngitis, granular or follicular.
Diphtheritic sore throat.
Acute burning of stomach, as of hot ball.
COUGH.
DRY COUGH –
Hoarse, croupy, harsh cough, with sensation of tickling and burning in larynx and trachea; feeling as if a ball of fire had lodged in throat.
Dry, hacking cough, from dryness in throat; from tickling at one, spot on left side of larynx.
Incessant, dry cough, as from a small ulcerated spot at throat pit; must press on it to loosen phlegm.
Chronic, hard and dry cough.
Harsh, barking, dry cough; throat looks glazed and dry, dark- red; tonsils enlarged; dryness, burning, and smarting in fauces.
SPUTA –
None; throat very dry.
Very thick and difficult.
Scanty, thick, from a small sore spot in larynx.
Thick, tough, difficult.
Copious, thick, yellow.
Thick, starch-like, profuse from pharyngitis; exhausting.
WORSE –
At night as soon as he lies down.
Lying down.
Out of doors.
From damp, cold weather.
BETTER –
From raising thick sputa.
SENSATIONS –
Throat, dark-red, sore, burning; mucus, thick, scanty, white, or yellow.
Dryness of pharynx, with disposition to hawk and clear throat, without relief.
Of tickling, as from a stiff feather, in the nostril.
Burning and rawness; rough, sandy feeling in eyes.
Smarting and burning in throat; feels swollen.
Pain and suffocative feeling in throat and lungs; constriction of glottis.
