CORYZA.

FLUENT AND DRY CORYZA–

Fluent coryza during the day; dry at night.

Scraping in throat; crawling in nose, with sneezing and stuffy, dry cough.

Fluent indoors; dry and stopped out of doors; fluent by day and stopped by night.

At the beginning, when caused by dry, cold weather, cold draft (Aconite), sitting in cold places, on cold stone steps.

Chilly and feverish at the same time.

Snuffles in infants; nose stopped.

Frequent sneezing in morning in bed; after rising; fluent coryza Acute, catarrhal laryngitis, from exposure, with nose stopped, headache, and chilliness; fluent by day, dry at night and stopped.

Over-sensitive to strong odors; they cause even fainting.

Offensive smells before the nose; even food and drink smell offensive (Colch).

Dry coryza; catarrh with headache, heat in face, chilliness, and much mucus in throat.

Excessive irritation of eyes and nose, followed by distressing paroxysms of sneezing; prolonged until state of depression follows. (Hay fever.)

WORSE–

Strong odors cause fainting.

Morning in bed sneezing worse.

At night, nose stopped; by day, fluent.

Breathing cold air, soreness of throat.

Moving; chilly and hot at the same time.

Out of doors, dry and stopped; fluent indoors.

Sitting in cold places; or on cold stones.

COUGH.

DRY COUGH–

Racking, violent cough, with headache as if the skull would burst, and bruised pain in stomach and abdomen; worse after midnight and in morning (Bryonia).

Spasmodic cough, with retching and gagging.

Dry cough in evening, loose in morning.

Dry cough, from itching and tickling in trachea; worse after midnight; or adherent mucus high up in trachea provokes cough.

Cough of drunkards.

Persistent, fatiguing cough if she lies on back; comes on about midnight; but ceases when she turns on side; hysterical cough; nervous cough.

LOOSE COUGH–

Violent loose cough in morning before rising; sputa, clotted blood.

WORSE–

Lying on back; better lying on side.

At night, dry cough, preventing sleep.

After midnight, till daybreak.

After eating, but desires to eat during cough.

From exercise, mental effort, thinking or reading.

From cold; and inhaling cold air, throat worse.

From drinking, eating, smoking.

In morning, splitting headache worse.

Evening, dry cough; loose in morning; on waking.

BETTER–

From warm drinks.

Lying on sides.

Loose in morning.

CHEST AND RESPIRATION–

Dyspnea with gastric troubles; cannot lie down; cannot sit down.

Oppressed breathing, from constriction of hypochondria, with tight, hacking cough.

Dyspnea from upward pressure of diaphragm, from accumulation of gas in the abdomen.

Asthmatic constriction of chest transversely, as if drawn together; at night in bed; worse walking, or ascending; from motion or exertion; from going to bed; must sit up in chair to breathe; cannot lie in bed.

Constriction as if clothing were too tight.

Pressing in the chest as from a heavy load.

Nervous asthma; feels as if the air had been exhausted; feels as if about to die.

Dyspnea from tightness around hypochondria; dry cough.

Roughness and rawness in chest, causing hawking; burning in chest.

Feels as if something were torn loose in chest.

Congestion to chest, with heat and burning.

LARYNX AND THROAT–

Rawness of throat as if skin were scraped off.

Throat not painful on swallowing, but very sensitive to inhaled cold air.

Raw sore throat causes hawking and coughing.

Chronic sore throat, with difficult tenacious mucus; raw, smarting.

Dry, painful larynx; worse early in the morning; the hands and feet are hot.

Hoarseness (catarrhal, with viscid mucus).

SPECIAL–

Chills shifting about, now here, now there; as if creeping over the bones; first cold, then hot, then chilly again; better near a warm stove; moving about starts chills.

Chilly and hypochondriac.

Catarrhal symptoms predominate over the inflammatory.

SENSATIONS–

Constriction of chest and of abdomen.

Chest feels pressed in from side to side.

Congestion, heat, or even burning in chest.

Of something torn loose in chest by coughing.
