CASE VI.

June 1946. Ashok, aged 8 years, soon after his recovery from Chicken Pox, got Typhoid fever and from the very beginning of the illness was placed under the writers care. In spite of best selected remedies Bry., Gels., Rhus tox., Ars. alb., Phos., Baptisia, Hyosc., the case developed with full fury to complete unconsciousness, rolling, of the head from side to side, head drawn back, with all characteristic signs of meningitis, paralysis of limbs, inability to swallow, etc., etc. The boy was put on intravenous injections of Glucose twice a day, and Helleborus, starting from the 30th and going on up to 1000th without any favourable response.

A new symptom appeared now and it was the trembling and twitching of the lips and the chin; all reflexes were abolished; the pupils did not react to light. Zincum met. was now the last hope and it did revive the lost hope. It was applied first in the 200th potency and later in the 1000th with steady improvement. When the boy returned to consciousness, he was unable to speak and asked for things by signs and gestures. This also cleared up after about ten days.

To expedite convalescence, Kali phos. 6x and Calc. phos. 6x were given and a multivitamin preparation also was prescribed. He briskly regained his health and was soon normal in every way.
