MERCURIUS DULCIS

      (Calomel.)

Characteristic Symptoms

      Pallor of face as a corpse. The inside of the mouth filled with ulcers and black. The tongue black. Constant flow of dark putrid saliva, very offensive. Ulceration of the throat with dysphagia. Tenesmi rectales. Dysentery, small stools of mucus and blood, covered with bile. Watery, dark green stool.

Therapeutics

      Scrofulous ophthalmia, ulceration of cornea. Blepharitis chron., also syphilis. Good remedy in catarrh of tuba Eustachii and middle ear. Diarrhoea of infants with scarcely any tenesmus, grass-green excoriating stools, enlargement of the liver and other Mercury symptoms. Balanitis. Balonopostheitis. Ulcus phagedenicum. Mucous patches. Maculous syphilides. Prostatitis acuta. Syphilitic ulcers of the intestines. Syphilis of the brain (Donner). Also externally.

Dr. Oscar Hansen, M.D., from Denmark, was a corresponding member of the British Homeopathic Society and the American Institute of Homeopathy. His book 'Textbook of Materia Medica and Therapeutics of Rare Homeopathic Remedies' was published in 1899.
