COMMON NAME:

      ARBOR VITAE.

Symptoms

      The leading anti-sycotic (the leading anti-psoric-Sulph.; the leading anti-syphilitic-Mercurius). (N.).

Hydrogenoid constitution (Nat-S.) (B.).

One sided complaints (Causticum, Lachesis, Lycopodium).

Aversion to motion (Bryonia).

Useful in removing many of the symptoms of gonorrhoea (inferior to Medorrhinum).

Especially suited to the treatment of ailments following suppressed gonorrhoea (Pulsatilla, Sepia, Staphysagria). (N.).

Twitching, especially in the upper part of the body.

Stinging in the limbs and joints (Apis., Kali bichromicum, Sil).

The limbs go to sleep (Anacardium, Nux vomica, Pulsatilla).

Painful swelling and redness of the points of the fingers.

BAD EFFECTS FOLLOWING VACCINATION; NEVER WELL SINCE (N.).

Pathological vegetations, condylomata, polypi, etc. (N.).

Moistening and suppurating sycotic excrescences (Silicea).

AGGRAVATION:

      In the evening; from the heat of the bed; by extension; in cold, damp air, after vaccination; from excessive tea drinking; from narcotics; at night; at 3 A.M. and 3 P.M.; from tobacco; and from spirituous liquors.

AMELIORATION:

      By rest; by drawing up the limbs; from warmth; and in the open air.

RELATIONSHIP:

      Compare: Cannabis sativa, Cantharis, Copaiva, Kali-S., Mercurius, Nat-S., Pulsatilla, Sepia, Silicea, Staph, and Sulph. Follows well after: Medorrhinum, Mercurius, and Acid nitricum

Adolph Lippe
Adolph Lippe (born near Goerlitz, Prussia, 11 May 1812; died in Philadelphia, 23 January 1888) was a homeopathic physician who worked in the United States. Adolph got a legal education at Berlin. After completing his legal studies, Lippe became interested in homeopathy, and emigrated to the United States in 1837 to further his study. In 1838, he enrolled in the North American Academy of Homeopathy at Allentown, Pennsylvania, from where he graduated in 1841. He settled in Philadelphia, where from 1863 until 1868 he was professor of materia medica in the Homeopathic College of Pennsylvania. Besides some essays and treatises from the French, German, and Italian which became standards, Lippe was the author of:
