THE TREATMENT OF SUPPURATION

Calcarea carbonica is another remedy that comes to our minds when certain patients are encountered with suppurating processes. As with all the rest of the remedies, when it is needed, you will be dealing with a Calcarea carb. individual who will have vivid constitutional manifestations. He will be fair, fat, flabby, with marked debility-a leukophlegmatic temperament, with torpid disposition-with sluggish or slow movements, one who is white, watery or chalky pale like a wax model.

He will also be a sour patient-sour stomach- anaemic, chlorotic, and more than likely have the tubercular tendency. Pyemia develops in which abscesses form in deep muscles. This condition will disappear surprisingly quickly under Calcarea carb. if the symptoms agree. It has deep abscesses in the chest, deep in the abdomen, in the thigh, anywhere, but these abscesses will not break, as with Sulphur and Silicea, but will disappear as will also the pyaemic state.

Calcarea carb. always favours resorption, or encourages the part to become calcareous. Remember this patient – fair, fat, flabby, anaemic, cold feet, sweats in parts, weakness, cant endure, tired, sickly, waxy face, cold, covered with sweat, cold sweats, sour stomach – remember these characteristics and all the rest and blessed often.

Carbo vegetabilis comes into use also for boils and abscesses of low dynamic type. Here is the same old tune-we use it is for the Carbo veg. patient, whose vital forces are low from loss of fluids, or after disease. Such a patient is almost lifeless, is cold, has cold breath, weak pulse, oppressed and quickened respirations-must have air. There is general venous stasis, bluish skin, limbs cold, etc.
