Urinary Organs

Itching at orifice of urethra (after third dose, third day). Frequent desire to urinate (thrice made), (after third dose, third day). Plentiful urine towards night (ninth day). Urine straw color, strong-smelling rather scantier (nine hours after second dose, second day).

Sexual Organs

Male. Feeble erection (third night). Diminished sexual desire (third day). Slight sexual desire fifth night). Anaphrodisia (third night). Seminal emission in sleep (nineteenth night). Feeble emission (fifth night). Female. Catamenial period passed with no menses appearing (fourth day); catamenia delayed (sixth to eighth day).

Respiratory Organs

Voice. Voice hoarse (thirteenth day). Cough and Expectoration. Cough excited in the open air (had a catarrh a week before, which had almost subsided, leaving only a dry, hard cough, especially of a morning), (second day). Occasional cough (eleventh day). Cough at night (fourth day). Cough, especially in open air, or returning from (after second dose, third day). A little hacking cough (fourteenth day). Tickling cough in open air (fourth day). Tickling, teasing cough, and frothy mucous expectoration, when out in open air, after breakfast (third day). Dry cough (eighth day). Dry cough towards night (ninth day). Hard, dry cough (tenth day). Dry, tickling cough (third day); after walking (eleventh day). Cough dry, tickling, after walking (eleventh day). Cough and phlegm (tenth day). Some cough; hacking; much phlegm (tenth day). Loose, short cough, with much phlegm; the phlegm always seems to accumulate in the throat, being readily brought up without hawking; for last three days (sixth day). Cough and expectoration of loose, glairy phlegm (second day). Difficult expectoration (eighth day). Frothy expectoration (second day). Frothy sputa, tasting as of sea wreck (after second dose, third day). Expectoration, with much difficulty, of frothy and some yellow mucus (tenth day). Respiration. Respiration 30 (fifth day). Slight dyspnoea (tenth day).

Chest

Pain in chest increased (first day); gone (fourth day). Great pain in the chest, aggravated by any movement, on deep inspiration (after half an hour). Chest much stuffed (tenth day). Chest sore (twelfth day).

Pulse.

Pulse full and quickened (nine hours second dose, second day).

Superior Extremities.

Slight shooting down the muscles of the arms in the evening (second day)). Slight shooting pains in left and right shoulder- joints (fourth night).

General Symptoms.

Languor towards night (ninth day). Tired feeling on waking (eighth morning). Feeling of weariness and depression (sixth day). Debility at night (sixth day).

Sleep and Dreams.

Sleepiness. Inclination to sleep after dinner (second day). Drowsiness (after first dose, second day); at night (sixth day). Drowsy after dinner, slept (fourth day). Drowsy after being awakened (fourth morning). Prolonged sleep (second morning). Sleep sound (seventh night). Sleep profound (second night); (some hours after third dose, third day). On waking after dinner, supposed it morning (fourth day). Sleeplessness. Want of sleep (fourth night). Insomnia (after third day); (fifth night). Dreams. Lascivious dreams (sixth night). Dreams of traveling to Isle of Man, some danger and trouble (usually dreams of water, but seldom dreams), (second night). Dreams of cholera (in others), with sloughing off of the prepuce (ninth day).

Fever

Chilliness. A cold feeling, in shoot, as from a blast of cold air (sixth day). Heat. Feverish (second day). Much heat of body, and perspiration moderate (second night). Sweat. Perspires freely (first day).

Conditions.

Aggravation.

(Evening), Out of doors, fulness in head at region of ear; singing in ear; heat in throat. (Night), Cough; debility. (Open air), After breakfast rawness in throat; cough. (Eating), Gripes, etc. (Reading), Dull headache. (Walking), Tickling cough.

Amelioration

(Open air), Congestive headache; Headache. (Eating), Headache.

Dr. Allen compiled the Encyclopedia of Pure Materia Medica over the course of 10 years.
In 1881 Allen published A Critical Revision of the Encyclopedia of Pure Materia Medica.
