ACONITUM



Haematuria, with hemorrhoids of anus or bladder; burning distress in the urethra.

Male Sexual Organs

      Sexual desire increased; fits of lasciviousness.

Increased desire in the evening, with the heat and sweat.

Sexual desire decreased, with relaxed parts; tingling in parts.

Bruised pain in the testicles.

Testes feel swollen and hard.

Children reach with their hands to the genitals. Cystitis.

Female Sexual Organs

      Ovaritis, painful urging to urinate; high fever; also after the menstrual flow is suddenly checked.

Prolapsus uteri, occurring suddenly, with inflammation. bitter vomit, cold sweat, or dry, hot skin.

Metritis, sharp shooting pains, abdomen exceedingly tender.

Menses: generally too late, diminished, but too protracted; plethoric females who lead a sedentary life; tendency of blood to head and chest; profuse, with nosebleed; suppressed by fright, with vexation.

Leucorrhoea copious, tenacious, yellowish.

Labor-like pressing in the womb; has to bend double, but relieved in no position. Dysmenorrhoea.

Uterine hemorrhage active, much excitability, giddy, cannot sit up, fear of death.

Pregnancy

      During pregnancy, restless, fear of death, predicts the time of her death.

Impending abortion from fright, with vexation; circulation excited, rapid breathing.

Labor-pains violent, follow in rapid succession; parts dry, tender, undilatable; contractions insufficient.

After-pains too painful, too long-lasting.

Milk-fever with delirium; mammae hot.

Child-bed fever, lochia suppressed, mammae lax, empty, skin hot, dry; pulse hard, frequent or contracted; eyes wild, staring, glittering; tongue dry, abdomen inflated, sensitive.

Return of the lochia, when women commence going about after confinement.

Newborn children: asphyxia, apoplectic symptoms, hot, purplish, breathless, pulseless; icterus: ophthalmia; retained urine.

Larynx

      Croaking voice.

Larynx sensitive to touch.

Laryngitis. with inflammatory fever; also with suffocative spasms (spasms of the glottis).

Laryngeal complaints after straining the voice.

Dryness in the windpipe causing a frequent little cough.

Croup: awaking in first sleep; child in agony, impatient, tosses about; dry, short cough, but not much wheezing nor sawing breathing; cough and loud breathing during expiration; every expiration ending with a hoarse, hacking cough; after exposure to dry, cold winds.

Breathing

      Labored, anxious, or quick and superficial, short, when sleeping or raising one’s self; deep slow sighing.

Breath hot; hot feeling in lungs.

Asthma from active hyperaemia of lungs and brain, face red, eyes staring; after emotions; can talk but little at a time; loud, strong, noisy breathing, with open mouth.

Asthma after suppression of an acute rash; feeling of a band around the chest; muscles of the chest are rigid; occasionally vomiting urine scanty, dark; after the paroxysm, the sputum, is yellow or blood-streaked.

Agony, sits up straight, can hardly breathe; pulse like a thread, vomiturition; sweat, with anxiety; swelling under short ribs After scarlatina.

Oppression of the chest when moving fast or ascending. Heart disease.

Cough

      Child grasps its throat every time it coughs.

Cough: dry and painful: short, dry hacking, excited by tickling in the larynx, spasmodic, rough, croaking, with danger of suffocation; dry, hard, ringing.

Expectoration absent; or bloody; thick, white mucus.

Cough worse after taking cold; drinking cold water; from tobacco smoke; lying on either side; evening, night, more after midnight.

Lying on the back partially relieves dry cough with nervous excitability.

Lungs

      Haemoptysis: blood comes with an easy hawking, hemming or slight cough; expression of anxiety; great fear of death; palpitation; quick pulse; stitches in the chest, caused by mental excitement; exposure to dry, cold air; after wine.

Stitches about the chest; cannot lie on the right side; only on the back, dry hacking cough. Pleurisy.

Lancinating through the chest, with dry heat, difficult breathing, often violent chill.

Pressure, weight and burning under sternum.

Heart Pulse

      Oppression about the heart, burning flushes along the back.

Anxiety about the praecordia, heart beats quicker and stronger; fear of death.

Palpitation. with a feeling as if boiling water was poured into the chest.

Anxiety difficulty of breathing flying heat in face sensation of something rushing into the head.

Feeling of fulness; pulse hard, strong contracted; stitches at the heart lies on the back, with raised shoulders constriction of the chest.

Fainting with tingling.

During three beats the apex strikes only one.

Pulse: full hard strong in fevers inflammation; small intermittent irregular, in asthma quicker than the the beat of the heart; quick hard, small in peritonitis; when slow, almost imperceptible thread-like with anxiety; full, hard, and frequent, succeeding chill, during which it was small and weak.

Neck and Back

      Tearing in nape of neck.

Painful stiff neck, worse moving the neck pains down the neck to the right shoulder.

Bruised pain between the shoulders.

Drawing tearing pain in the scapulae.

pain in the back prevents his taking a deep inspiration.

Stiffness of the back.

Crawling in the spine, as from beetles formication.

Numbness of small of back, extending into lower limbs.

Cutting pain in circles from spine to abdomen.

Pain in the small of the back especially at last lumbar vertebrae as if beaten.

Spasms from inflammatory affections of the spine.

Upper Limbs

      Tearing pain in the in the shoulder-joint.

Formication in arms hands and fingers.

Arms hand down powerless, as if paralyzed by blows.

Numbness of the left arm; can scarcely move the hand; tingling of the fingers.

Shooting pains, tearing, erratic, in arms, forearms, wrists and fingers-joints.

Paralysis of the wrists.

Creeping in the fingers while writing.

Red pimples on the back of the hands stinging itching.

Hands icy-cold cold, sweaty palms.

Liver limbs.

      Drawing-tearing in left hip-joint on moving.

Shooting tearing pains in legs, knees, ankles toes etc.

Limbs feel tired during repose.

Legs almost powerless after sitting numbness.

Cramps in the calves.

Legs and feet feel numb tingling, commencing in the feet and spreading upwards.

Sensation as if drops of cold water trickled down the front of the thighs.

Numbness in the gouty limb.

Hot pricking in the toes;toes “go to sleep” while walking.

Coldness of the feet and ankles; soles and toes cold and sweaty.

Limbs in general.

      Bruised, heavy feeling.

Numbness icy-coldness and insensibility of hands and feet.

Hot hands and cold feet.

Rheumatic inflammation of the joints worse evening and night; intense, bright red, shining swelling of the parts, sensitive to the least contract.

Lameness and numb-feeling in effected parts pain intolerable.

Nerves

      Great irritation of the nervous system.

Convulsions of children, teething, heat startings, twitches of single muscles; child gnaws its fists, frets, cries; costive or dark watery stools.

Trembling palpitation; muscles feel bruised.

Numbness, tingling; left side lame; paralysis of the limbs.

Jerks of left leg or arm; grinding teeth; comatose, restless, moaning.

Lassitude, bruised feeling and restlessness of the body.

Sleep

      Sleepiness; spasmodic yawning.

Sleeplessness after midnight, with anxiety restlessness, continual tossing about; eyes closed.

Sleeplessness caused by fear, fright, or anxiety, with fear of the future.

Dreams anxious, vivid.

Time

Chill Fever Sweat

      Chill at the beginning violent, more in the evening after lying down, often with hot cheek and contracted pupils.

Chilly, if uncovered or touched.

With the chill: internal heat, anxiety, red cheeks; body chilly, hot forehead and ears, internal heat.

Shivering ascends from feet to chest.

Dry heat, with thirst, sharp breathing, quick, hard full pulse.

Covered or affected parts sweat profusely; like to be uncovered.

Profuse hot sweat during sleep (also in consumptives).

Bad effects from suppressed sweat.

Sides

      Right:

To be given in cases going from right to left; earache, faceache, toothache, arm numb.

Left to right: paralysis (the opposite with the sick).

Sensations

      Burning, tingling and numbness.

Coldness and retarded venous circulation.

Oversensitive to pain; pains, especially at night, seem insufferable.

Tissues

      Increased action of serous membranes, reddening their capillary vessels.

Arterial system dominant; has but little effect on changed blood corpuscles; of no use in typhoid states.

Congestions with the mind symptoms.

Housemaid’s knee, acute symptoms.

Glands painful, hot swollen.

Burning through all the mucous membranes.

C. Hering
Hering got the degree of M. D. from the University of Wuezburg with highest honours. The theme of his thesis was "De'Medicina Futura" (The medicine of future). Hering left Germany for West Indies and finally arrived at Philadelphia in Jan, 1833. He established a homeopathic school at Allentown, Pennsylvania, commonly known as "Allentown Academy". Soon he became very popular as a physician. He is known as the 'Father of Homeopathy' in America.
