General [General] The principal remedies for this affection are Nux vomica, Mercurius vivus, Bryonia and Belladonna.
Nux vomica [Nux-v] Nux vomica if the cough is accompanied with symptoms of Catarrh, and when after a fit of coughing the dog retches and paws at the sides of his mouth with the fore feet.
Dose. Two or three drops night and morning
. Mercurius [Merc] Mercurius may be given if the cough is violent, and the dog crouches near the fire and has frequent attacks of shivering. Dose. Three drops every four or six hours.
Bryonia [Bry] Bryonia and Belladonna are useful when the cough does not give way from the use of the preceding medicines. Dose. The same as directed for Nux vomica.
