TEMPERAMENT –

Weeping and despair of recovery.

CORYZA.

Imaginary smells before nose; smell lost.

Tickling as from snuff; violent sneezing.

ALTERNATE DRY AND FLUENT CORYZA –

Alternately fluent and dry coryza, with loss of taste, smell, and appetite; with nosebleed.

Dry and stopped at night.

Fluent, thick, opaque, yellowish mucus in morning.

Fluent in open air : stopped in the house.

DISCHARGES –

Bland, thick, opaque, whitish, greenish or yellowish and whitish.

None at night; free in morning and during the day.

Profuse secretion of mucus.

Much offensive nasal mucus in chronic cases. Purulent, crusty obstruction of nose; tendency to aural catarrh.

WORSE –

Indoors.

From taking cold.

Night and morning.

BETTER –

In open air.

COUGH.

DRY COUGH –

Dry cough, from violent tickling in throat and larynx, which brings tears to eyes.

Dry cough, from scraping, dryness, and rawness in larynx.

At first dry cough; afterwards loose, with expectoration of much salt, bitter, yellowish or whitish mucus.

Dry cough, with pain in right hip, and feeling of nausea.

Dry cough as from vapor of sulphur in trachea and chest; with constriction of throat; itching, irritated feeling in chest; and irritation at pit of stomach.

Dry cough at night, going off as soon as he sets up in bed.

Dry cough, with gagging and vomiting of food and mucus.

Constant, spasmodic, dry cough, evening and night; so rapid, he can’t get breath, and must vomit.

Spasmodic, violent, shattering, in two coughs each; dry at night and loose by day.

CHRONIC LOOSE COUGH –

Chronic, loose cough after measles or whooping cough.

SPUTA –

None at night; loose by day.

None, cough dry; or, Easy, thick, yellow.

Loose, abundant, thick, yellow, purulent, greenish, mostly in morning and by day; but at night also.

Bitter; salty; offensive.

Constant spitting of frothy, cotton-like mucus.

WORSE –

On inspiration, dry cough.

From loud talking.

Coming into warm room, dry cough, After eating, cough and constriction of larynx.

Warm from exercise, cough.

Evening and night, constant cough.

In morning, expectoration more free.

At night, lying down, cough.

Lying on left side, palpitation.

When warm in bed, short, dry cough.

Morning and evening; scanty, frothy, white sputa and cough.

Every evening, great fullness of chest.

BETTER –

Sitting up from lying, ceases.

In open air, coryza better; cough better.

CHEST AND RESPIRATION –

Throbbing in chest interrupts sleep.

Feeling as if air-passages were constricted by firm mucus that could not be loosened.

Every evening, great fullness of chest.

Asthmatic breathing from suppressed rash.

Difficult breathing after slight emotions; when lying down at night; in the evening; wants to get the face to fresh, cool air.

Dyspnea wakes him at midnight, with very spasmodic cough and tenacious white mucous sputa.

Sympathetic dyspnea; the symptoms involve other organs than those of breathing.

SENSATIONS –

Soreness in chest under clavicles; felt when lying on that (painful) side.

Dryness of air passage; tickling of air passages.

Constriction of larynx and throat.

Constriction of chest.

Irritation at pit of stomach, causing dry, spasmodic cough.

Retching and desire to vomit, with spasmodic cough; involuntary escape of urine.

Feeling of sulphur smoke in chest.

Shocks and painful bruised feeling in abdomen, with severe cough that shakes one all over; with nausea.

Shifting pains in head, back, arms, legs, and abdomen; with cough, or between spells (Rhodo.).

Bruised pain and shocks in abdomen; feeling of ulcer in middle of thorax.

Great dryness of mouth in the morning, without thirst.

Constant spitting of frothy, cotton-like mucus.

Escape of urine with violent cough.

Palpitation of heart with cough.
