CORYZA.

DRY CORYZA–

Dry coryza; loss of smell; not stopped; face flushed, or unusually pale; throat dry.

COUGH.

DRY COUGH–

Tickling, spasmodic, paroxysmal cough; worse at night, better from drinking water; throat dry.

Severe cough, with difficult expectoration; followed by yawning, but cannot sleep.

Bronchitis, from catching cold or getting wet; constant cough, high fever, blood-streaked sputa; hot sweat which does not relieve; bluish-red color of the face.

Dry, tickling, spasmodic cough; worse at night, with gaping and drowsiness.

Difficult cough, with severe smothering spells; face becomes blue.

Dry, paroxysmal cough at night; better from drinking water; suffocation relieved a little by cold air.

SPUTA–

None; cough dry; throat dry.

Difficult; of frothy, of bloody mucus.

WORSE–

From drinking, dyspnea worse; but dry cough better.

At night, dry cough worse; dyspnea worse.

From smoking and wine, respiration worse.

After sleep, cough worse.

During sleep, breathing worse.

BETTER–

From drinking water, cough better.

From cold air, suffocation better.

RESPIRATION–

Fine rales, constant cough; sopor; bluish face.

Great anguish and dread of suffocation; looks blue as if dying.

Loud, difficult, rattling, snoring, somnolent.

Deep puffing, stertorous, very slow; mouth open.

Long, sighing, deep, slow.

Pale and restless, gasping; must sit up for fear of suffocating.

Loss of breath falling asleep (Baptisia, Badiaga).

Suffocative attacks during sleep, like a night-mare.

Nightly attacks of asthma; long, noisy expiration.

Short, silent inspiration.

Tension and constriction of chest.

Spasmodic constriction of chest; tight breathing, with great anguish.

SPECIAL–

Face flushed or unusually pale.

Sweats profusely without relief (Hepar); sweat is hot and profuse on body, less on limbs, and attended by sudamina on body.

Slight alarm or anxiety, even in serious cases.

Somnolent, blue, indifferent, and quiet, with slow breathing.
