CORYZA.

DRY CORYZA–

Dry coryza, nose obstructed; with dryness of the throat.

FLUENT, ACRID CORYZA–

Fluent in open air; discharge, watery, acrid, in drops.

Difficult mucus blocks nasal passages, and wakes him at night; must blow nose and hawk up mucus from posterior nares.

Fluent, acrid, watery, or yellow, corroding, offensive (syphilitic) worse at night.

Disagreeable odor inhaling air.

Frequent sneezing, no coryza, comes even in sleep.

Violent itching and burning of nostrils.

Nostrils, inflamed, sore, burning, scabby, scruffy.

Sharp stitches at root of nose.

DISCHARGES–

None, nose dry; or, Fluent, watery, acrid.

Thick and difficult, especially from throat.

Fetid, offensive discharges; yellow mucus and pus.

Green casts with ulcers in nares.

Hard, difficult plugs from nares, leaving raw sores.

Green casts from nose every morning.

WORSE–

At night.

After sleep, gathering of mucus in posterior nares; must clear out mucus before he can breathe easily.

SENSATIONS–

Itching, burning, and soreness in nostrils.

Sharp pricking pains.

COUGH.

DRY, OR SCANTY COUGH– Dry, rough cough, before midnight, giving no rest, shaking whole body; worse lying down, must sit up and cough until a little bit is raised.

Dry, barking cough, from tickling in larynx and pit of stomach; worse lying down, and at night, with violent coryza.

Excessively hard, chronic, dry, racking, laryngeal cough, with stinging as from small ulcers in larynx, or, of an ulcerated spot on one side. (Chronic or sub-acute.)

Chronic, dry cough, with very difficult, scanty sputum; must cough until it comes up, must sit up to cough.

Dry cough with liver troubles.

Croupy, barking cough, with violent coryza; stitching shooting pains in throat and larynx; hoarseness.

Morning cough, difficult, scanty, as if something was tearing away low down in the lungs; followed by expectoration of greenish-dirty mucus, causing gagging.

Loose, difficult, gagging, painful, as from raw places in chest.

Loose cough, rattling breathing, brown or bloody sputum, pulse irregular’ pneumonia with typhoid.

SPUTA–

Very difficult and scanty; must cough until it is raised, when it is thick, sticky, or gluey.

Dirty, greenish-white, or yellowish-green.

Often in large lumps in morning; or, as if composed of casts of the air cells, spreading out in water in vessel.

Acrid, bitter, sour, salty, offensive, brownish.

WORSE–

From warmth.

At bed-time, and on rising in morning.

At night, lying down : must sit up and cough it out.

Lying down at any time.

SENSATIONS–

Tickling in larynx and pit of stomach provokes cough (dry) that shakes whole body.

Roughness, scratching, stinging, sharp pains in throat.

As of something tearing away in chest.

Sharp, shooting, stitching pains in nose, throat, larynx, and chest; throat to ear; worse, swallowing.

Hoarseness of actors and singers; scratching, stinging, sharp shooting pains in the larynx.
