CORYZA.
FLUENT CORYZA –
Fluent or dry coryza, with much sneezing, especially in the morning.
Chronic catarrh; bad, putrid smell before the nose; no appetite in morning on waking.
WORSE –
On approach of warm weather.
COUGH.
DRY COUGH –
Dry, wheezing, hollow cough : during dentition (sub-acute).
Tormenting, dry cough from tickling-crawling in larynx and bronchi, or below larynx, as if in upper bronchi.
Dry, convulsive, whistling cough; leading to retching, with escape of urine.
Chronic, teasing, hectic cough; night-sweats, fever, and debility.
LOOSE COUGH –
Severe, persistent, spasmodic, sub-acute or chronic cough, often attended by vomiting; profuse, slimy, purulent sputa : must sit up.
Bitter taste in mouth, fetid breath, greenish, watery diarrhoea, hectic fever : cannot lie down; must sit up.
Loose, fatiguing cough of old people; copious sputa.
SPUTA –
None, cough dry.
White, thick, copious, gelatinous mucus.
Copious, purulent sputa, after coughing-spell.
Usually copious expectoration; thick, white, or yellow mucus.
Greenish-yellow, bloody; of coagulated blood.
Profuse, slimy, purulent sputa.
WORSE –
During dentition.
Evening and morning, chronic cough : at night.
From lying down; from exercise : from music (Calcarea c.).
When awaking : lying on side, or turning in bed.
SENSATIONS –
Feels sore, as if bruised; or, as if sternum was crushed in.
Pain and soreness in chest and sternum, compelling him to press with hand (Bryonia).
Heaviness and oppression of chest. (Sub-acute.)
Severe pains in chest; frequent blood-spitting; chronic cough, great emaciation; purulent, greenish sputa; afternoon fever, morning sweat.
SPECIAL –
Perspires and feels weak after coughing.
Chills and heat; sleepiness.
Bloating of stomach; must loosen the clothing.
Violent winter cough of old people; very spasmodic spells at night; sputa, light-colored.
Chronic bronchial and laryngeal catarrh; with hoarseness and much hawking of mucus.
