CORYZA.
None: or useful at the very beginning: especially if acute catarrh of the middle ear is threatened.
COUGH.
Laryngitis from overstraining the voice.
DRY COUGH–
Acute, dry, short, spasmodic cough; worse from touching the larynx.
Spasmodic, dry, hacking cough (during pregnancy), with involuntary spurting of urine: much worse going into open air.
Acute bronchial catarrh, especially in young children.
Paroxysmal cough, mostly at night, or during day when asleep : cough worse in sleep.
Loose, rattling cough at night: less by day: slight fever.
SPUTA–
Mostly none, or scanty; dry by day, loose at night.
WORSE–
Touching larynx, cough worse.
At night, from falling asleep by day.
Morning dressing; going into open air in morning, much worse, dry cough.

Face slightly flushed.
Breathing very rapid and difficult.
Cough, dry, hard, and deep-sounding.
Rales, all over chest, both sibilant and sonorous.
Pulse 130, not full, nor hard.
Temp. Axillary, 102 1/2.
Quiet; drowsy; slightly delirious in sleep.
Asks for water occasionally.
Aconit, Belladonna and Gelsemium, failed to relieve.
3 Ferrum phos. 30 degree in water: a teasp., 2 hours.
After 14 hours, temp. 99 degree, cough loose.
Third day, well.
SPECIAL–
Empirical use for acute otitis media is much approved, and its value seems well established (Gelsem).
