CORYZA.

FLUENT CORYZA–

Profuse, fluent coryza, particularly in morning.

Frequent sneezing with, or without, coryza.

Nose dry, and stopped up.

COUGH.

DRY COUGH–

Hoarseness, with deep bass voice; loose cough.

Deep-sounding, hoarse, barking cough; worse at night; no sputa; fever.

Short, hacking cough, with deep, hoarse voice.

Throat feels dry, scraped, and rough, causing hacking cough.

Speaking possible only with great effort.

Harassing cough only at night.

Spasmodic cough, with retching and vomiting.

Intermittent, paroxysmal, dry cough, seeming to come from the abdomen : when attack is developed, there is a copious sweating over whole body: the attack closes with severe nausea and gagging.

Spasmodic, nervous; or, sympathetic, dry cough.

Dry cough wakens him at 2 A.M.; after a short spell, he falls asleep again.

Chronic cough of the aged; cough seems to come from abdomen, and shakes the whole body; much exhausted after coughing spells, which come on every 2 or 3 hours.

Coughing fits provoked at long intervals; renewed by tickling in throat of larynx.

Begins to cough as soon as head touches pillow.

Bruised feeling in larynx while inhaling.

Larynx very dry and sore; involuntarily supports larynx when swallowing or coughing: constriction of larynx when talking.

LOOSE COUGH–

Loose, in bronchial tubes, provoking cough.

Purulent, mixed blood: severe, stitching pains on coughing or deep breathing.

SPECIAL–

Cough following measles: spasmodic croup.

Whooping cough; nervous or sympathetic coughs.

SPUTA–

None, cough dry. (Acute stage.)

Yellow mucus or pus.

Yellow mucus with hacking cough.

Only in the morning, yellow and bitter.

Difficult sputa, which must be swallowed.

WORSE–

Afternoon and evening.

Only at night, as soon as he lies down.

Soon after midnight.

From warmth.

From all use of voice, laughing, talking, singing, crying.

Drinking, smoking.

Begins to cough as soon as head touches pillow.

RESPIRATION–

Constriction of throat, chest, and hypochondria, which keeps back breathing and prevents coughing.

Must support chest when coughing.

SENSATIONS–

Rough, scraping, dry sensation in fauces and soft palate, causing cough; yellowish sputa.

Tickling and dryness in the throat; causing cough.

Of a soft feather in larynx, causing cough.

As if something prevented exhaling when coughing, or talking; it is an exertion to speak.
