Antim tart, Apis, Gelsemium and Pulsatilla are thirstless as a rule. Arsenicum, Calcarea, Mercurius and Phosphorus often have extreme thirst. Arsenicum may want frequent sips of cold water but the Arsenic patient often desires hot drinks and is better from heat in general, both internally and externally. Bryonia has thirst for large quantities of water at infrequent intervals. Phosphorus wants ice cold drinks and to chew cracked ice.


1. Nux vomica: Care in administration; abortion is apt to follow.

2. Bryonia; Care must be exercised as it may be injurious during pregnancy.

38. Arum triphyllum: The child “forces his head into the pillow,” puts his fingers in his nose and draws out shreds of mucus and also pulls off small pieces of skin from his lips and scratches his nose and lips until they bleed.

51. Magnesia Carbonicum: This is the type of child who is very liable in a acute enteritis to develop a bronchitis attack as well.

52. Medorrhinum: This remedy has cured many cases of marasmus in infants that had inherited sycosis from a parent.
