EXPERIMENT (PROVING) OF HISTAMINE HYDROCHLORIDE ON HUMANS


Difficulty to concentrate upon or to follow conversation. Bad humour, desires to be left alone. Superficial burning in various parts of face and lips. Nasal and buccal pricking. Tickling in various parts of face and lips. Numbness of lips. Muscles of face feel stiff. Fibrillar jerks visible in various muscles of face and periorbital muscles. Itching in various parts of body and in external auditive ducts.

EARS AND AUDITION

Pain or discomfort in one or both ears, propagating to surrounding region; to neck; to lower jaw and temporal region; to forehead; to lower jaw, cheek and anterior region of ear; to neck and forehead; to upper maxillary; to submaxillary region; to occiput and superior part of neck; to part of superior part of neck; to maxillary and occipital region; to neck, maxillaries and occipital region of the same side; to inferior canine and one side of head; to jaw and neck of the same side.

Painful compression at base of ears, propagating frequently to neighbouring regions.

As if a foreign body would press base of ears one against the other.

As if head was compressed laterally at the ears and part of surrounding brain.

As if a finger was introduced in each ear pressing.

As if a base of ear was being compressed causing pain in neighbouring regions.

As if there was air at pressure in the base of ears.

As if the whole zone surrounding the ear was being compressed.

As if a bathing – cap was compressing the lateral part of the head at the height of the ears.

Pressure from inside outwards at both ears.

Painful compression at mastoid region, propagating sometimes to neighbouring regions.

Ears obstructed.

Both ears obstructed at the same time, or one of them, or alternating one and the other.

Obstruction and alternate clearing of ears.

Ears obstructed with sensation of compression at the base.

Sensation of fullness in ears.

Ears humming, like deaf for some moments.

Buzzings and whistlings.

Buzzings, and obstruction of ears previous to pressing pain from inside outwards at one side of head.

When swallowing saliva, ears are humming, with relief of the obstruction.

Pains, stitching, tearing, dull.

Contractions of particular muscles.

Drawing in external auditive duct.

Red and burning ear.

Pricking in ear like by chillblains.

Itching at entrance of external auditive duct; in both duct or only in one; or lobe of ear.

Concomitants: Superficial burning sensations on head and face. itching on lids and other parts of body. Heat in face. Picking at left frontoparietal region. Pricking at internal side of thigh. Burning in eyes. Stitches in eyes. Superciliar pain. Compression of the whole head. Sensation of dullness in head. Burning occipital headache. Heavy supraorbital headache. Odontalgia. As if a forceps was compressing root of nose from outside.

Sensation of nostrils being dry and wide open. Drawing at zygomatic region. Pain in throat. Dryness of throat and larynx. Myalgiae and arthralgiae. Partial numbness of limbs. Toes, swollen red and hot. Sensation of electricity running through the hand. Weariness.

Lack of strength and will. Tremor of hands. Dizziness. Pain in chest wall. Oppression and difficulty to breath. Cough. Precordial pains. Palpitations. Queer precordial sensation. Pains in hypogastrium. Pain in left testicle. Burning at stomach.

Modalities: Better by cold.

NOSE AND OLFACTION

Itching without eruption, fugitive, on the whole back or half of the nose; on one of the wings; on the tip of the nose.

Superficial burning at the back of the nose; on its tip.

Pricking at one half of back of the nose.

Sensations of drawing skin or as if skin was contracting at back of the nose; at one of its halves; at back of nose and right frontal region.

Visible and repeated contractions of skin at one side of nose.

Drawing at back of the nose.

Sensation of pinching at root of nose.

As if a forceps was put on root of nose, compressing it from the outside.

Painful tension at root of nose.

Contusive bruised pain at nose.

Sensation of bruised nose at one side of its halves, after blowing, hurting when pressed.

Contusive, bruised pain at whole back of nose; on one of its halves, at one side of root of nose.

Pain as from bone caries, “rotten bone,” at the base of cartilage and upper part of nasal wall at one side, increasing upon pressing on nasal wing of this side.

Pain when compressing wall of one nasal cavity.

Tensive pain at one half of back of nose.

DRYNESS OF NASAL CAVITIES

Sensation of nasal cavities being wide open with a nearly painful dryness being experienced in their interior.

Sensation of nasal cavities being completely open, without any secretion, with frontal headache and painful retro – ocular heaviness.

Dryness and burning of nasal cavities and reno – pharynx.

Dryness of nasal cavities with sensation of drawing at its root.

Dryness of nasal cavities, inspiration troublesome because of air inhaled being felt as cold.

Sneezing.

Discomfort at base of nose, reaching both ears.

Tickling, itching, pricking and picking in nasal cavities.

After sneezing, sensation of swelling of nasal mucosa and of a communication existing between nose and ears.

Sneezing with sensation of tickling.

Sneezing, no relief being obtained from them.

When sneezing, sensation of burning and dryness at nasal mucosa.

After sneezing nose obstructed.

Frequent sneezing upon inhalation of any kind of dust of surroundings.

Sneezings when handling leaves of sen or flowers of tile with sensation of burning. In nose and uncoloured, sticky secretion.

Series of sneezings.

Epistaxis during sleep.

Epistaxis when sneezing with sensation of heat in the nose.

Congested nasal cavity at its root or in one of its cavities.

Congestion at root of nose and eyes, as by insolation or cold.

Coryza with abundant nasal secretion and sneezings.

Coryza with burning, pricking sensation and nasal semi – obstruction.

Sensation of wet nose with scarce or no secretion at all.

Wet nose with nasal pricking and sneezings.

Wet nose, difficulty for entrance of air, afterwards nasal obstruction.

Wet nose, semi – obstructed, without secretion.

Gelatinous secretion like white of egg, sticky; watery secretion.

Yellowish secretions, green yellowish, white yellowish, uncoloured.

Green yellowish secretion of sour taste.

Smell as from humidity in one of the nasal cavities.

Concomitants: Superficial burning sensations in different parts of face. Compression of head. Head aching, heavy, hot. Pain in jaws. Numbness and tickling in different parts of face. Muscular jerks, visible at periorbital muscles and in face. Dryness of conjunctivae. Conjunctivitis. Heaviness of lids and tension in eyes. Buzzing in ears. Compression at mastoid region. Burning in mouth.

Itching in mouth and on tongue, Dryness of throat and larynx. Lacunar amigdalitis. Food tasteless. Myalgiae and arthralgiae. Pressing precordial pain. Tiredness and weariness. Chest hurting. Cough with tickling in throat. Epigastralgia and nausea. Abdominal pain with imperious desire to evacuate.

THROAT

Dryness of throat

Dryness of throat and larynx.

Red throat, dry and hurting.

Dryness especially on uvula.

Sensation of foreign body, ball or mass in throat.

Sensation of throat being opprested, as if a scarf was wound round it not permitting to swallow.

Aggravation by heat.

Pains, stitching, tearing dull, burning.

White dots on tonsils or crypts with reddening of tonsils, anterior tonsillar pillars and uvula. Pain and discomfort when swallowing dryly.

Concomitants: Anxiety. Nervousness. State of gay excitement with anxiety. Generalised prostration as during grippe. Dizziness with insecure walking. Tremor of hands. Burning occipital headache. Frontal headache. Pressive pain on mastoid region. Ears obstructed. Superciliar pain. Earache. Petro – ocular pain. Pain when moving eyes. Nose obstructed. Nasal dryness. Sneezings. Dry mouth. Thirst for cold drinks. Pain in testicle. Pain in muscles and joints. Difficulty to breathe. Cough with tickling in throat. Precordial oppression. Pain in lower abdomen.

Modalities: Better by cold, worse heat, swallowing.

MOUTH AND TEETH

Dry mouth.

Increase of salivation alternating with dry mouth.

Saliva of acid taste.

Picking, burning, pricking, itching sensations in the whole month; in mouth and on tongue; on one half of floor of mouth, under the tongue; at one half of tongue towards tip.

Stitches in floor of mouth.

Rough dots on tongue.

Tongue with thick white saburral.

Sticky mouth, with disagreeable taste.

Insipidy of food.

Vine tasting like perfume.

ODONTALGIA

Dull and drawing pains in all teeth; in superior or inferior teeth; in the teeth of one half of maxillary; in molars and pre – molars; in canines and incisives; in canine.

Pain in places from where teeth were already extracted.

Pain in certain regions of dental insertion, not well defined nor always in the same place.

Painful swelling of palate above molars.

Concomitance of symptoms in teeth with Precordial pains.

Sensation of loose teeth, avoiding to bite on them for fear of their breaking out and trying not to open mouth too much for fear of cold. Painful tickling in one tooth, such as caused by insufflation of air into a rotten tooth.

Concomitants: Superficial burning sensations in different parts of face. Pain and heaviness in head. Burning occipital headache, irradiating in an arch of heat to forehead. Burning occipital headache with simultaneous testicular pain. Neuralgic pain in one or the other maxillary, propagating to ear, sometimes. Numbness of cheek. Tickling in parts of the face. Itching in small zones of face and nose.
