Coition is injurious. Dals or pulse like Mussoor, urad are to be avoided. Regular bath in the Ganges, daily application of the mud from the bed of the Ganges and drinking of Ganges water are advisable. Bland and nutritious diet is recommended. Measures are to be taken to improve the general condition of the patient. A different climate and improved modes of life often ameliorate the disease.
In fact the injunction of keeping the inoculated person away from possible source of infection for some length of time, is a precaution against the sensitized condition of the subject. But it must be admitted that it is very difficult, if not impossible, to observe such a condition, as any gust of wind can carry the infection, so widely existing in the atmosphere and over which no body has got any control whatsoever.
It is an old trouble with him for the last 10 years. He used allopathic medicines for years but he used to get only temporary relief. Let me therefore emphatically impress upon your mind, that whenever you have good reason to believe, from the history of the case, that the disorder (cholera) originated with the digestive organs, you are wasting your time with camphor. Treatment should consist in the prescription of the constitutional remedy and in the most serious general drainage of the subjects. Results will be excellent most often. It will be impossible, and with truth, to affirm that one has been able to avoid in a patient an always hypothetical cancer; but the general impression is in favor of a favorable prophylactic action of the scourge.
