Vertigo with white stars before the eyes. Vertigo, everything turns around with him, worse stooping, better after breakfast. Vertigo on opening the eyes. Dimsightedness which obliges her to wipe her eyes constantly, to see better, eyelids thickened, dry, burning, granular lids. Sensation of coldness in the eyes and eyeballs. The eyelashes fall out. Lachrymation. Much dry eye-gum in morning on awaking. One ear hot and red in evening.

Dryness of the eyelids. The right ear feels closed. Very acute sense of smell. Dryness of mouth, of oesophagus. Difficulty of speech (Paralysis of tongue). Aversion to food, drinking, Tobacco and acids. Intense thirst especially while eating. Nausea from riding in cars, boats. Paralysis of muscles (stomach) preventing deglutition. Cramp in stomach during and after a meal.

Smell of food disgusts. Very weak during menstruation. Ineffectual desire for stool with constipation, stool hard and difficult. Knees crack on motion. Sensation of emptiness in chest. The hands are alternately hot and cold. Burning of the feet. Cold perspiration of the feet. Disposition to tremble. Drowsiness. Bad effects from loss of sleep and night watching. Sensation of hollowness. Numb feeling of outer parts. Aversion to the open air. Paleness of the skin; red spots. Fear of ghosts at night.

ALUMINUM.

TYPE: Rheumatic. Traumatic. Spinal Locomotor ataxia. Hemiplegia. Ascending.

LOCATION: Lids upper lid. Right upper lid. (Left: Nux v. Plb). OEsophagus. Rectum, Bladder. Larynx. Lower limbs.

CAUSES: Apoplexy. Spinal affections.

CHARACTER: Painless.

AGGRAVATION: Warmth of bed (itching eruption) Starch. Potatoes. Salt. Wine. Vinegar. Spirits. On alternate days. Morning. After coitus. In cold air. Out of doors. In dry weather Winter. At new and full moon. In the afternoon. In a warm room. While sitting. Immediately after dinner. Evening. Disappointment. AMELIORATION: In open air. from cold washing. Damp weather. while eating. warm drinks. By walking. After meals. Every other day. Evening.

LOCAL SYMPTOMS:

Paralytic lameness of the arms. The left upper eyelid hangs down as if paralyzed. Paralysis of the upper lid One-sided paralysis especially of the extensors. Rheumatic and traumatic paralysis in gouty patients. Palsy from spinal disease.

ATTENDING SYMPTOMS: Hasty, hurried. Time passes slowly. Variable mood. Suicidal tendency when seeing knife or blood. Sad thoughts, every thing is viewed in a sad light. Fears of losing the reason. All mental symptoms worse on worse on waking i n the moving. Easily offended. Disposition to shed tears. Weakness of memory. Great changeableness in his mental moods. Dejected as to his disease. He thinks that he can not get well again. Serious, anxious mood. Anxiety. Restlessness. Very timid, is startled at hearing the least thing fall. Discontented with everything. Cross and peevish. Self willed. Dislike to every occupation. In-attention to what is read. Constantly makes slips of tongue and uses other words than he desires.

Acute sense of smell. Red nose; point cracked. Tension on the face, as if the white of an egg had dried on the skin. Thick, Viscid mucus from the posterior nares (throat), difficult to detach. Constant inclination to clear throat. Formication on the inner surface of the cheeks. Itching of the tip of the tongue. Sweet taste in throat. Meat has no taste. Aversion to meat, to smoking Craving for chalk, charcoal, dry food, tea grounds.

Potatoes disagree Can swallow but small morsels at a time. Inactivity of the rectum requiring great straining to evacuate even a soft small stool. No desire to stool for days. One must strain at stool in order to urinate. Hard knotty stools, covered with mucus. Can not urinate without passing stool. First part of stool liquid, later portion appears burned. After stool throbbing in small of back. Sweating of the perineum.

During coition pressure in the perineum. Semen thick, lumpy, like jelly. Dry cough early every morning. Many spinal complaints. Brittle nails and brittle skin of fingers. Great heaviness in legs and arms, when walking he staggers and has to sit down. Cramps in calves. Numbness of the heel on stepping upon the foot. Soreness of soles. Inability to walk except when eyes are open or in daytime.

Loss of sensibility of feet. Skin symptoms at each full and new moon. Coldness of hands. Rough chapped hands, bleeding easily, Heaviness in the legs so that she can scarcely lift them. Trembling of knees. Itching of soles. Hard skin of the soles very sensitive to touch. Restlessness obliged always to move the feet and to walk about. Tired and weary. Dreams of thieves, with anxious awaking. All irritating things, salt, wine, vinegar, pepper immediately produce cough. Chronic eructations for years, worse evening.

Inability to perspire. Hairs fall out all over body. Trembling of the whole body with desire to lie down.

DULCAMARA.

TYPE: Rheumatic. Apoplexy Acute.

LOCATION: Upper lid. Optic nerve. Face.

Lower jaw. Tongue., Bladder. Upper limbs.

Lower limbs. Single parts.

CAUSES: After catching cold. Suppression of eruptions. From cold. Damp cold. Cold damp weather. Sudden change of weather. Lying on damp cold ground.

CHARACTER: With coldness of parts.

AGGRAVATION: Every change in the weather . Cold and damp. Evening. Night. During rest . Cold wet weather. Suppressed menstruation. When sitting. In wet weather. Cold air. Suppression of sweat. Suppression of eruptions. Lying on back. Stooping. Bending diseased parts backward. Getting wet. Using water. Cold drinks. Ice creams.

AMELIORATION: From moving about. From moving the affected part. On rising from bed . After rising from a seat. When walking. From warmth. In warm air. In dry weather.

LOCAL SYMPTOMS: Paralyzed organs caused by sitting on damp, cold ground; paralysis of inner parts. Paralyzed arms feel icy- cold. Paralysis of single parts. Paralyzed limbs feel icy-cold. Paralysis of the arms; they are icy-cold, especially during rest. Paralysis of different single parts. Paralysis of tongue with impaired speech. Paresis and hyperaemia of spinal cord from lying on damp cold ground. Incipient paralysis of lungs in old people. “Effects of lying on damp ground, e.g. paralysis.” clarke.

Paralysis of the tongue and obstructed speaking especially after taking cold. Paralysis of the arms with icy-coldness. (especially during rest) as from apoplexy. Paralysis of lower limbs from getting cold or after a wetting, with icy-coldness of the extremities.

“Rhus Tox and Dulcamara compare favourably with Causticum for paralysis of Rheumatic origin, provoked by exposure to a damp and cold atmosphere, particularly when there have been changes from tolerably warm to cold and wet days. Dulcamara is suited to the beginning of such cases and not when the trouble becomes chronic. Rhus Tox is suited to chronic cases.” Farrington.

ATTENDING SYMPTOMS: Very ill-humored, not disposed to do anything. Quarrelsome disposition. Impatient. Restlessness. Headache with icy-coldness of whole body. Sensation as if the occiput had enlarged. Twitching of the eyelids in cold air. Ringing in ears. Warts and eruption in the face. Twitching movement of the lips when the air is cold. Distortion of the mouth; it is drawn to one side. Paralysis of tongue in cold damp weather. Itching crawling on the tip of the tongue. Turbid fetid urine.

Warts on the hands. Perspiration in the palms of the hands. Tetter-like eruption especially on the hands. Red spots on body. Violent snoring in sleep with open mouth. Patients living or working in a damp cold basement or a milk diary. Urticaria worse warmth, better in cold. Warts, fleshy, large, smooth; on face or back of hands and fingers. Diseases brought on or particularly aggravated by exposure to damp cold weather or air. Hot days and cold nights towards the close of summer… Icy- coldness of parts.
