Characteristic Symptoms
Looks pale, exhausted and thin. Debility independent of any organic disease. Offensive odour from the body. Defective reaction. (Sulphur, Cuprum, Carbo veg., Lauroceras, Ambra, Valeriana, Capsic). Profuse sweating from the least exertion. Stormy weather aggravates. Fear. Anxiety. Melancholy. Despair of recovery. Constant thoughts of dying. Intolerable itching. Headache, hammering in head. Otorrhoea with offensive pus, odour like that of rotten meat. Swelling of the upper lip. Tongue coated yellowish-white, dry. Ravenous hunger, must eat bread in middle of night. Eructations with taste of rotten eggs. Stool fluid, dark- brown, foul-smelling. Impotency. Cough, aggravated morning on waking and evening on lying down; expectoration green, mucous, nearly like matter. Expectoration difficult. Suffocation in larynx, with crawling, causing dry hacking cough. Glands swollen. Weakness of joints as if they would not hold together. Herpetic eruptions, especially on the scalp and the bends of joints with great itching, intolerable as soon as the patient becomes warm in bed. Sweat on walking with consequent debility. Takes cold easily.
Therapeutics
Weakness after debilitating diseases. Anaemia, with aversion to food and foul taste. Religious melancholia. Chronic headache, with inordinate appetite, sensation in occiput as of a piece of wood lying on the head. Humid eruptions on the scalp, the hair matted and with foul odour. Scrofulous ophthalmia. Stinging pains in the liver, aggravated from lying on the right side. Diarrhoea and cholera infantum with fluid, dark-brown, and fetid, watery evacuations. Chronic cough, with offensive expectoration, night-sweats. The skin is yellow, dirty and greasy with eruptions, offensive secretions. Easy perspiration. Various forms of eczema, also tinea capitis, worse in the warmth of the bed and with fetid odour. Enlarged glands. The sebaceous glands secrete in excess. Indolent ulcers on the legs, slow to heal. Antidote: Coffea.
