Characteristic Symptoms
Painful wearing sensation in vertex down left side. Watery discharge from the nose, with thin excoriating coryza. Small, putrid-smelling ulcers and yellowish- white aphthae in the mouth. Spasms of glottis, of vocal cords, constriction with suffocation. Sudden dyspnoea from spasm of vocal cords, with starring eyes, blue face, cold sweat over the body, pulse small and soft, temperature sinking. Suffocating in attacks, often followed by catarrh. Inspiration comparatively free, but crowing, with obstructed or impossible expiration, livid face, convulsions of limbs and partial coma. The lungs inflated to pains. Inspiration with short, rattling, crackling rale, expiration difficult, prolonged, insufficient, with prolonged loud, whistling rales. Cutis anserina. Impotency.
Therapeutics
Excellent remedy in laryngismus stridulus. Lately also recommended in attacks of asthma, to relieve the spasm of glottis. Typhus, when the tongue is very dry, profound prostration, subsultus tendinum, the patient fears that he will lose his senses. Used as chlorine water.
