Characteristic Symptoms
Bloodshot and watering of the eye. Conjunctiva congested. Dim vision. Partial paralysis of oesophagus (Opium). Copious micturition in bed without knowing it. (Opium). Red blotches on arms, legs, and face, then over the whole body, coalescing gradually, resembling measles, and surrounded with a marked capillary hyperaemia. Erythema of head and neck, aggravated by wine, beer, and spirits, with palpitation. Intense itching of the skin. Anaesthesia. Surface of the body “stone cold.” Extreme dyspnoea with sensation of weight and constriction of the chest.
Therapeutics
Morning frontal headache, better in open air. Asthenopia retinae, with circles of light and black spots before the eye. Sea-sickness. (Coccul., Apomorphinum), Cucurbita Pepo, Petroleum). Asthmatic attacks, with sleeplessness. Erythema, urticaria, pruritus. Recommended in conjunctivitis (Dyce Brown).
