The cases that I am going to report are some purely mental cases or of which the cause is mental: causing troubles at the same time of the body and the mind. I will be as brief as possible adhering strictly to the characteristic symptoms which has led me to essential remedies.

“If you want the truth look for it within yourself and in the observation of facts of your own life”.

(1) The first case that I have treated was that of a women and old teacher, who was suffering much, without knowing from which he suffering.

I found the patient in bed having and emaciated face, the pulse is miserable, replied to my questions only by tears. I could get nothing out of her during my first visit.

I asked one of her friends to be kind enough to give me some informations. I learnt that my unfortunate client has lost since a year her only daughter and that since that time she did not leave her bed and THAT CONSOLATION INCREASED HER GRIEF AND TEARS.

I gave her Natrum muriaticum 2 globules, 1000, and saw her after 15 days. I found that the patient has left her bed, she is more calm and could continue a conversation. The remedy was repeated every 20 days in the same way for 3 months.

Since then the patient has resumed her profession and was a fervent propagandist of Homoeopathy.

(2) The attendant of an important personality lost his job as his master settled in foreign land. There was no complaint against him- however her presumed that his master was not satisfied with his word and cares. From that time he was attacked by a deep melancholia. His only daughter who adored him could make him decide to eat a little. He avoided all distractions, spoke only about the loss of his position, created thousands of griefs and finally became desolate ABOUT A CAUSE PURELY IMAGINARY.

DEEP DISCOURAGEMENT AND HOPELESSNESS,

2, globules of Veratrum 200, in the a tablespoon of water to be taken in the morning while fasting.

At the end of 20 days the cure was complete, neither melancholia nor hopelessness.

(3) A young woman newly married came to consult me for some minor gastric troubles of no important. During her second visit her condition was not in the least changed. Found her somewhat preoccupied and strange. I tried to gain her confidence and to make her open her mind which seemed to be more ill than her body.

Then she said to me this singular fact: “I am a fortunate woman, my husband is full of goodness towards me, and loves me very much. She began to sob and said, “When I am alone with him, and if I have a knife at hand, I have the irresistible desire to strike him”. I consoled her and said her disease is the cause of a nervous state, and that I will cure her and told her to take the medicine as I have directed.

She was given Nux vomica 1000. I heard nothing about the patient.

Six months afterwards, one of her friends, whom I asked about her condition, said that she was never so well, that the cruel fixed idea has disappeared and that only out of shame about what she confided to me. She did not come to see me again.

I doubted inspite of my experience about the utility of Nux. At that time, it was about 15 years, I had not very strong belief on out infinitesimal medicine, that I have to-day, in cases of perversions of our mental conditions.

But a second fact which I witnessed soon afterwards and in almost in similar circumstances, under the influence of the same medicine, removed my doubt.

(4) An excellent mother of a family came to see me to give me a letter one of her relatives. Interrogating on her health II found that it was very bad. She said to me that since 15 years she is one of the most unfortunate woman being constantly followed by fixed idea of which she is relieved only by prayer and by consolation of her confessor. But the very moment she is with her child or husband, if she had near at hand a knife, a scissors or any pointed instrument, she had the desire to strike them.

Nux a single globule of the 24th, in 24 spoonful of water to be taken one table-spoonful in the morning for 3 consecutive days, then one dose every 48 hours produced such a good result that the patient said to me smiling that she had not more the dangerous desire.

The disease relapsed several times. Nux in different high dilutions finally cured her completely.

(5) A third case absolutely similar, except a slight difference: that the least contradiction or contrariety gave her the tendency to homicide. He was cured by Mercurius sol. (vivus) given at an interval of 15 days.

Now two cases of high fever having purely mental causes.

(6) Following the loss of fortune, a tailoress was attacked by a continued fever. I am not going to enter into the details. But neither Aconite not Nux nor Bryonia, nor Pulsatilla produced the least amelioration. Finally when II was told that the little fortune that the patient had was endangered, I gave her Ignatia

(3) globules 24th, in 12 spoonful of water to be taken at first every eight hours then once morning and once evening.

After the last dose the patient entered in convalescence and was perfectly cured.

(7) Mme L. Concierge, 50 years, an honest woman, whom I knew since 10 years, called for a very bizarre fever. From time to time she had a somnambulic lucidity: she could see the interior of her brain which she described me very well. This strange condition generally comes at night and the following day she had the memory of it and used to tell me, which I explained her as dreams.

During the day she also pretended to see her voice. I did not try to explain these facts. The patient was becoming more undeserved reproaches, which influenced deeply her mind. I gave her Ignatia which made the patient normal, only the fever continued with profound sadness and WITH THE FEAR OF BEING POSSESSED. Rhus cured these symptoms. There was no fever. But there remained a great weakness and she fainted by the least movement. Moreover she has the great tendency to become afraid and to lose courage. Veratrum cured her. These three medicines were given in globules in water in the 12th dilution, to be taken a teaspoonful morning and evening for five days. I do not draw out of it any conclusion. Those who will read it will be able to deduce a conclusion themselves.

I will make a single remark regarding the last case which I am going to report.

(8) The Bibliotheque homeopathique of Dr. Charge has published a case of mental derangement in a magistrate as a consequence of a misfortune. This illness yielded to Ignatia, Rhus, Veratrum and Calcarea all given in the 200th, every 15 days and in the above order.

At that time may very faithful friend of 20 years old, Dr. Perussel asked me, how I could prescribed the medicine without seeing the patient.

It was only be recalling the above case of the concierge who was cured by Ignatia, Rhus and Veratrum because the present case was very similar to the former.

The day when we will know the relation of remedies the one with the order, we will walk without groping and we will to able to obtain some rapid cures which will be very brilliant. At the stage where Homoeopathy has arrived, we ought to arrive our ideal is to GO FURTHER AND WITH SURE STEPS.

PSYCHIC DISEASES by Dr. DULAC.

(9) In the years Mme.. whom I was treating since 3 years as well as her numerous family members, called me and told me what she was going to tell me should be kept in complete secret. Her eldest son, Henri, aged 19, a young man of very sweet and reserved character as regards his manners, very obedient and submissive to his parents, without any determined reason, has become since 3 months dry, breaking everything, proud, without respect for those whom he loved dearly. His friends, who were many before his singular change of health and moral, found him to be cold ceremonial, and as if solemn, in a word almost rough, but expressive. They considered him rotten.

The mother was suffering horribly because of the moral condition of her beloved eldest son.

She could not explain that strange change of child whom she loved dearly and and who was always so reserved, submissive, so modest and so amiable. It is with a solicitude mixed with tears that that she prayed me to save her child from that fearful moral insanity. She would like, she said, her child to be an idiot, impotent than proud and unrecognisable as he was at that time.

I interrogated, with all the possible manipulation the unfortunate young man. I could draw nothing out of him except some complains against her family and some exalted praises about his manner of seeing and thinking, and about himself. The old men, he said, are not more of our time which is for the youngs. The respects and the submission are invented words to curb the youth and the noble instincts. I tried but in vain to speak with reason with him. “You” he said to me; “you are not a wicked man but belong to the old generation, you have not the right to judge the new”.

I asked her mother, who was so unfortunate, to give him platina three globules 600, dry.
