Hahnemann – Psychic Properties of Medicine

There may arrive a time, variable according to the individual where weakness of the mind disappears, more or less completely even it is hereditary.

It would be very interesting even useful, to research if evil passions, vices, defects of character and of the intelligence are some psychic imperfections or rather psychic symptoms foreboding some latent diseases, which may manifest sooner or later, either in the individual or in some one of this descendents. But his research is not indispensable or even necessary. In fact, it is enough for a homoeopathic practitioner to know the medicine which administered in strong dose, develop, in a healthy man, the impulse to anger, to homicide, to hopelessness, to suicide, to jealousy, to envy, to gluttony, to luxury, to theft, to the diminution or suppression of intelligence as regards certain points etc. etc. because the know that these same medicines given in small doses cure these evil defects of moral and intellectual impulses in persons who have them. It is, in fact, the experiments have proved to doctors who use the medicines according to the law analogy, in more and more high dilutions and by giving a dose at a more or less long interval. In Ch. IV, the reader will find numerous and varied examples about the method of using the medicines in similar cases.

Hahnemann could have been the first, to publish similar cases, if he had applied in this field of experiment his double discovery of the law of similars and the infinitesimal dose. It was more urgent that the disfunction of the intellect is always preceded by mental weakness, as we will be taught later on by Prof. Mandelay. It is therefore necessary to cure gradually thee defects of character that appear in an individual in order to prevent by the same shot the weakness of the intelligence which succeeds these defects.
