Introduction

      This plant, the popular name of which indicates its principal use, was first proved by Dr. M. S. Savery, of France.

Symptoms

      Its chest symptoms remind one very strongly of Bryonia, for instance, respiration painful, especially at base of 1. lung; cough dry and harsh, causing pain in forehead and abdomen; pain behind sternum, shooting, cutting, worse from long breath; spaces between ring close to sternum tender on pressure.

It has been used with success in bronchitis, pleurisy (150) and intercostal neuralgia (120).
