COMMON NAME:

      CAMPHOR.

Symptoms

      Great faintness and prostration (Ant-T., Kali-P., Laur., Sepia, Veratrum) (Ra).

Diminished circulation of the blood to parts most distant the heart (coldness of the external body).

Throbbing pains in the cerebellum, like the pounding of a hammer (Belladonna, Gloninum, Natrum muriaticum, Psorinum), synchronous with the beat of the heart (N.).

Pulse: weak, extremely small, and scarcely perceptible (Carbo vegetabilis, Laur.) (A.).

BURNING IN THE STOMACH (Arsenicum, Carbo vegetabilis, Phosphorus, Secale) (Ra.).

Sudden attacks of vomiting and diarrhoea (Arsenicum) (A.).

ASIATIC CHOLERA (Arsenicum, Carbo vegetabilis, Cuprum, Hydr-Ac., Kali-P., Lachesis, Naja, Phosphorus, Secale, Veratrum).

Rattling in the throat (Ant-T., Bromium, Phosphorus, Pulsatilla) (G.).

Coryza: first stage, when the nose is stuffed up and the inspired air feels cold; the patient feels chilly (D.).

CHOLERA SICCA: COLLAPSE, WITH SCANTY OR ABSENT DISCHARGES. Body cold as ice; great prostration; voice squeaky or husky; upper lip retracted (D.).

Sexual desire increased. Chordee or priapism (Cannabis sativa, Cantharis, Phosphorus, Pic-Ac., Sulphur). Nightly emissions (Br.).

Satyriasis (Belladonna, Cantharis, Hyoscyamus, Phosphorus, Platina, Stramonium) (B.).

Asphyxia neonatorum (Ant-T., Laur.) (B.).

Eyes fixed, staring, distorted (Belladonna, Hyoscyamus, Stramonium) (C.).

Foam at the mouth, during convulsions (Art-V., Bufo., Cuprum, Hyoscyamus) (K.).

Sleeplessness, from nervous overexcitability (Coffea, Kali-P., Nux vomica, Phosphorus, Stramonium).

GREAT PRAECORDIAL ANXIETY AND DISTRESS (Aconite, Argentum nitricum, Arsenicum, Hydr-Ac., Lachesis, Phosphorus, Veratrum) (C.).

Camphor, topically, causes an erysipelatous dermatitis, with bright redness, and, eventually, blisters (from concentrated solution) (F.).

Suffocative catarrh, with paralysis of the lungs (Ant-T., Lycop., Phosphorus) (Bt.).

Headache, with catarrhal affections (Bryonia, Kali bichromicum, Pulsatilla) (G.).

Sudden retrocession of eruptions, with cold skin and great prostration (Ant-T., Apis., Carbo vegetabilis, Phosphorus, Sulphur) (Bt.).

BAD EFFECTS OF SHOCK FROM INJURY; SURFACE OF THE BODY COLD; FACE PALE, BLUE; LIPS LIVID; PROFOUND PROSTRATION (A.).

Useful in cases of measles or scarlatina when eruption does not appear (Ant-T., Bryonia, Cuprum, Helleborus, Lachesis, Stramonium) (A.)

May be given in all sequelae of measles (Carbo vegetabilis, Kali carb., Phosphorus, Pulsatilla) (A.).

AGGRAVATION:

      During motion; at night; from contact; in cold air; and in the dark.

AMELIORATION:

      From warmth; when thinking of the existing complaint; in warm air; and from drinking cold water.

RELATIONSHIP:

      Camphor ANTIDOTES or modifies the action of nearly every vegetable medicine, such as tobacco, opium, etc.

Adolph Lippe
Adolph Lippe (born near Goerlitz, Prussia, 11 May 1812; died in Philadelphia, 23 January 1888) was a homeopathic physician who worked in the United States. Adolph got a legal education at Berlin. After completing his legal studies, Lippe became interested in homeopathy, and emigrated to the United States in 1837 to further his study. In 1838, he enrolled in the North American Academy of Homeopathy at Allentown, Pennsylvania, from where he graduated in 1841. He settled in Philadelphia, where from 1863 until 1868 he was professor of materia medica in the Homeopathic College of Pennsylvania. Besides some essays and treatises from the French, German, and Italian which became standards, Lippe was the author of:
