Symptoms

      Adapted to persons who are lively and entertaining when well, but violent and often delirious when sick (A.).

Bad effects of fear and charging (Ignatia).

Loss of consciousness (Aconite, Bar-C., Cannabis indica, Cocc., Helleborus, Hydr-Ac., Hyoscyamus, Ignatia, Lachesis, Mosch., Nux-M., Opium, Acid phosphoricum., Pulsatilla).

FANTASTIC ILLUSIONS AND BITING RAGE (HYOS., Stramonium).

FURIOUS DELIRIUM (Baptisia, Bryonia, Hyoscyamus, Lachesis, Stramonium, Veratrum).

Carotids throb violently: jugulars swollen; face bloated and red (Bt.)

Light and noise intolerable (Coffea, Nux vomica, Sulphur((Bt.).

Vertigo, with vanishing of sight, stupefaction and debility (China).

Squinting (Apis, Cicuta, Cyclamen, Gelsemium, Stramonium) (D.).

Things look red; seems sparks of fire (Bt.).

BLEEDING FROM INNER PARTS (Aconite, China, Ferr-P., Millefolium, Sabina).

Pricking on the muscles or bones.

Pressing and tearing rheumatic pains, which wander from one place to the other.

Sensation as if a mouse was running in the muscles (Illusion of a mouse running from under her chair-Actea racemosa, AEth., Lac-C.).

VERY ACUTE HEARING (Coffea, Nux vomica, Opium). (Br.).

OTITIS MEDIA (Calcarea, Hepar, Mercurius, Silicea) (Br.).

Severe, boring pains in the ears, which come on suddenly and shoot from one ear into the other (D.).

CONTORTION OF THE LIMBS (Aconite, Arsenicum, Cuprum, Magnesia phos., Secale, Stramonium).

SPASMS OF SINGLE LIMBS, OR OF THE WHOLE BODY (AEth., Apis, Helleborus, Lachesis, Lycopodium, Nux vomica, Stramonium, Strych., Veratrum).

Loss of sensation and motion of one side of the body (Causticum, Cocc., Phosphorus, Plb., Rhus toxicodendron, Zincum met.).

Grinding of teeth during sleep (Aconite, Arsenicum, Bryonia, Calcarea, Cannabis indica, Cina, Mercurius, Plb., Podophyllum, Sant., Stramonium) (K.).

THROAT: DRY, AS IF GLAZED; ANGRY LOOKING CONGESTION; RED, WORSE ON RIGHT SIDE (Br.).

The child bores its head into the pillow, and rolls it from side to side (Stramonium) (D.).

Inflammation of inner parts (mucous membranes) with a tendency to suppuration or with nervous symptoms (Asafoetida, Hepar, Silicea).

Induration after inflammations (Graphites, Mercurius, Silicea, Sulphur).

Parotid glands hard, red and swollen (Bromium, Phytolacca, Stramonium) (Bt.).

A white tongue with the papillae showing through it; the so-called “strawberry tongue” (D.).

SLEEPINESS, BUT CANNOT SLEEP (G.).

The child remains in a drowsy, sleepy state, with starting and jumping while sleeping (Bt.).

PULSE FULL AND HARD (Aconite, Ferr-P., Verat-V.).

NERVOUS FEVERS, WITH LOSS OF CONSCIOUSNESS OR DELIRIUM (Hyoscyamus, Kali-P., Opium, Acid phosphoricum.).

INFLAMMATION OF THE BRAIN (Apis, Helleborus, Hyoscyamus, Lachesis, Mur-Ac., Opium, Phosphorus, Stramonium).

Sleeplessness with drowsiness, or sleep which is stupor-like (Gelsemium, Hyoscyamus, Lachesis).

Pain in the stomach, worse during a meal (Calcarea phos., Nux-M., Nux vomica) (D.).

Gastralgia, pains go to the spine (D.).

Swelling and induration of the glands (Calcarea, Calcarea fluorica., Carb-An., Merc-I., Silicea).

Summer complaints of children, with crying and screaming and suddenly bending backwards (D.).

Diarrhoea from cold, with slimy, bloody discharges and some tenesmus (D.).

PUPILS DILATED (Argentum nitricum, Calcarea, China, Gelsemium, Hyoscyamus, Mang., Secale, Stramonium).

AVERSION TO LIGHT (Aconite, Argentum nitricum, Arsenicum, Bar-C., Calcarea, Carbon sulph., China, Conium, Euphr., Graphites, Lac-C., Lycopodium, Mercurius, Natrum muriaticum, Nat-S., Nux vomica, Opium, Rhus toxicodendron, Sulphur).

Loss of sight (Aconite, Aur-M., Bovista, China, Gelsemium, Hyoscyamus, Mercurius, Pulsatilla, Silicea, Stramonium).

Is indicated in fever when there are present symptoms of delirium and cerebral excitement, and a pungent heat of the skin (D.).

Colour of the face is bluish-red (Lachesis).

Pressure as though all the contents of the abdomen would issue through the female genital organs; this is particularly felt early in the morning (Bt.).

Os uteri rigid, hot and dry (G.).

Profuse flooding, with a feeling as if everything would issue from the vagina (Sepia) (Bt.).

Spasmodic contraction of the uterus (Bt.).

Alternate redness and paleness of the skin.

EXANTHEMATA OF SCARLET COLOUR (Stramonium).

Erysipelas: with bright red, rapid swelling of the skin; the skin is smooth, shining and tense; the pains are sharp, lancinating, stinging and throbbing (D.).

CONVULSIONS AND SPASMS IN TEETHING CHILDREN (D.).

Liability to take cold with great sensitiveness to draft of air (Calcarea, Hepar, Kali carb., Silicea).

BREASTS FEEL HEAVY, ARE VERY HARD AND REDNESS RUNS IN RADIATION (STREAKS FROM A CENTRE) (Bt.).

Indurated mammae (Bryonia, Phytolacca, Pulsatilla, Silicea).

NEURALGIC PAINS COME ON SUDDENLY AND DISAPPEAR SUDDENLY (pains increase gradually and decrease gradually- Stann.) (D.).

Belladonna be demanded in puerperal fever, and during the early stages of variola, and in scarlatina when the skin is uniformly smooth, shining, and of a scarlet redness (Bt.).

Pain in the right ileo-caecal region, worse by the slightest tough, even the bed-cover (A.).

SPASM OF THE GLOTTIS (Bromium, Lachesis, Stramonium) (C.).

Head hot and painful; face flushed; eyes wild, staring; pupils dilated; pulse full and bounding, globular, like buckshot striking the finger; mucous membrane of the mouth dry; stool tardy and urine suppressed; sleepy, but cannot sleep (A.).

Involuntary micturition; constant dribbling; paralysis of sphincter vesicae (N.).

Pain in the small of back, as if it would break; also pain in the lumbar and sacral region (N.).

FRIGHTFUL DREAMS. DREAMS OF QUARRELS, FIRE, ETC. (B.).

HOT HEAD WITH COLD LIMBS (Carb-an., Kali-Arsenicum, Sepia, Stramonium) (B.).

Perspiration: hot; during sleep; profuse; and in covered parts (K.).

Colicky pain (in the abdomen) come quickly and goes quickly; better from bending double or bending backward; also better from lying on the abdomen (K.).

BARKING COUGH (Drosera, Spongia, Verb.); AWAKING AFTER MIDNIGHT, WITH PAIN IN THE LARYNX AND THREATENED SUFFOCATION (C.).

AGGRAVATION:

      In the afternoon; at night; from touching the parts affected even softly; while swallowing liquids; from motion; from noise; from draught of air; while looking at bright, shining objects, after 3 P.M.; from uncovering the head; and in summer sun.

AMELIORATION:

      While reposing: while standing; while leaning the head against something; and in a warm room.

      Complementary: Calcarea

Belladonna is acute of Calcarea, which is often required to complete a cure.

Adolph Lippe
Adolph Lippe (born near Goerlitz, Prussia, 11 May 1812; died in Philadelphia, 23 January 1888) was a homeopathic physician who worked in the United States. Adolph got a legal education at Berlin. After completing his legal studies, Lippe became interested in homeopathy, and emigrated to the United States in 1837 to further his study. In 1838, he enrolled in the North American Academy of Homeopathy at Allentown, Pennsylvania, from where he graduated in 1841. He settled in Philadelphia, where from 1863 until 1868 he was professor of materia medica in the Homeopathic College of Pennsylvania. Besides some essays and treatises from the French, German, and Italian which became standards, Lippe was the author of:
