COMMON NAME:

      WHITE OXIDE OF ARSENIC.

Symptoms

      SYMPTOMS GENERALLY WORSE FROM 1 TO 2 P.M. OR 12 TO 2 A.M. (A.).

There is AMELIORATION from heat of all complaints except headache, which is temporarily relieved by cold bathing (Nux vomica, Spigelia); burning pain relieved by heat (A.).

ANXIETY AND RESTLESSNESS VERY HIGHLY MARKED.

DELIRIUM TREMENS (Belladonna, Hyoscyamus, Stramonium) (Br.).

FEAR, FRIGHT AND WORRY MORE MARKED THAN IN ANY REMEDY KNOWN.

DREAD OF DEATH AND YET A DISPOSITION TO SUICIDE (Aurum, Hepar, NIt-Ac., NUx-V) (R.).

Despair; driving him from place to place for relief; weeps (R.). Fear of being left alone (Kali carb., Phosphorus) (N.).

Hears voices and sees animals after having taken alcohol (N.).

Very great anguish and restlessness; cannot rest anywhere, moves from place to place; wants to go from one bed to another (N.).

FREQUENT SPELLS OF UNCONSCIOUSNESS (Baptisia, Hyoscyamus, Ignatia, Merc-Cy., Natrum muriaticum, Phosphorus).

Periodical pains, with coldness, chills and debility and anxious despair.

Sudden sinking of strength highly prominent in the sphere of drug’s curative usefulness.

WATERY CORYZA: DISCHARGE CAUSES BURNING; OR SMARTING OF NOSTRILS, AS IF SORE (All-C., Arum-T., Merc-C., Natrum muriaticum, (N.).

Nose feels stopped up (Lycopodium, Nux vomica, Pulsatilla, Stict.). (Br.).

Bloatedness or emaciation (Natrum muriaticum, Phosphorus, Sulphur).

Conjunctivae inflamed; extreme redness and dryness of inner surface of lids; they rub painfully against the ball (Borax, Graphites, Natrum muriaticum, Sepia, Sulphur).: burning pains (N.).

Eyelids swollen and oedematous, firmly closed and looks as if distended with air (N.).

THE LACHRYMAL DISCHARGE BURN AND EXCORIATE THE CHEEKS (N.).

Twitching of single parts of the body, when going to sleep.

Haemorrhoids, with intense burning, relieved by heat (relieved by cold water- Aloe) (R.).

Phagedenic ulceration, constantly extending its breath (Bt.).

Bran-like, dry, scaly eruptions, with itching and burning; the latter increased by scratching and followed by bleeding (Hr.).

Skin: dry and scaly; cold blue and wrinkled; with cold, clammy perspiration; like parchment; white and pasty; black vesicles and burning pain (A.)(<)

Bad effects from decayed food or animal matter, whether by inoculation, olfaction or ingestion (A.).

General anasarca, with white waxy paleness of the face and great debility (Bt.).

Diarrhoea is renewed after eating or drinking (Aloe, Crot-T., Natrum muriaticum,) (G.).

Diarrhoea of a cadaverous smell, scenting the whole atmosphere of the room (Ra.).

The stomach does not seem to assimilate cold water; it is wanted, but cannot drink it (Ra.).

Desire for pungent things acids, acid fruits, milk, and coffee (K.).

Cholera Asiatica; intense vomiting and purging; intense thirst; the surface of the body is as cold as ice, but internally, the patient feels as if full of fire (F.).

Arsenic should be thought of in ailments from chewing tobacco, alcoholism, sea- bathing, sausage poisoning, dissecting wounds, anthrax poison and stings of venomous insects.

AGGRAVATION:

      Periodically at night; after midnight (from 1 to 2 A.M.) on entering a cold place; from cold food or drinks; from rapid walking; from the use of milk; from cold; and when lying on the affected side, with the head low.

AMELIORATION:

      From external heat; when moving about: from warmth; from hot drinks; and from hot food.

ANTIDOTES: Camph., Carbo vegetabilis, China, Chin-S., Ferrum, Hepar, Iodium, Ipecac., Lachesis, Nux vomica, Sambucus, Tabacum, and Veratrum To large doses: Sesquioxide of Iron, Hydrated Peroxide of Iron, or Precipitated Carbonate of Iron; juice of sugar cane or honey water; lime water in copious draughts; emetics of Sulphate of Zincum met.; Carbonate of Potash and Magnesia, shaken in oil; infusion of astringent substances; and large quantities of dilutents drinks.

Adolph Lippe
Adolph Lippe (born near Goerlitz, Prussia, 11 May 1812; died in Philadelphia, 23 January 1888) was a homeopathic physician who worked in the United States. Adolph got a legal education at Berlin. After completing his legal studies, Lippe became interested in homeopathy, and emigrated to the United States in 1837 to further his study. In 1838, he enrolled in the North American Academy of Homeopathy at Allentown, Pennsylvania, from where he graduated in 1841. He settled in Philadelphia, where from 1863 until 1868 he was professor of materia medica in the Homeopathic College of Pennsylvania. Besides some essays and treatises from the French, German, and Italian which became standards, Lippe was the author of:
