The pure metal is triturated. Emaciation. Hyperaemia, (<) application to conjunctiva, with swelling and excessive secretion. Trembling; and chorea-like movements. Pains (<) lower limbs, with lassitude. Conjunctivitis, with much mucus (and perhaps disturbance of vision). Ptyalism. Appetite lost. Nausea. Vomiting. Lancinations following each other with the rapidity of electric shocks, in stomach and bowels. Abdomen retracted. Pain in intestinal canal. Diarrhoea and even bloody stools. Constipation. Respiration slow and difficult. Pulse slow. Paralysis of lower limbs. (Compare Plumbum, to which it is closely allied physically.)
Clinical
It has relieved the violent pains of locomotor ataxia.
