      A tincture is prepared from the bark of this tree (natural order Apocynaceae). Violent purging and cramp in the bowels, vertigo and general weakness; sharp purging, with pain, uneasiness in bowels and heat and irritation in the lower bowel. Clinical Camp diarrhoea of undigested food; bloody; especially of malarial origin, from drinking bad water, or even dysenteric symptoms, with great prostration. Has been used in India for the malarial fevers of that country, and it has also been found valuable as a tonic in the debility following exhausting fevers.
