General [General]
This is a disease that generally attacks young horses, as is frequently observed after a continuance of bad weather. The symptoms are dullness and weakness, which causes the animal to sweat from the slightest exertion; dry cough, discharge from the nose, at first watery, afterwards thick and white like cream, swelling of the submaxillary glands the swelling generally suppurates, and the animal soon recovers. Mercurius vivus is the best remedy that I can find, a dose of six drops ought to be given twice a day for several days; afterwards it is requisite to give a dose or two of Sulphur, to complete the cure.
