General [General] This is a common affection of dogs, caused by continued exposure to damp and cold from the kennel being placed in a bad situation, and it sometimes follows severe exertion; in the latter case, the dog is what is commonly called chest-foundered; very often the muscles of the fore legs and chest are swollen, and the animal whines if that part is touched; Arnica is the best remedy for this form of disease. For other forms of the disease, Aconite, Bryonia, Rhus toxicodendron and Sulphur will be found useful; the animal must be well cared for, kept dry and warm, and be furnished with plenty of clean straw to lie upon.
Dose. Three drops of either remedy night and morning.
