General [General]       Dogs are sometimes attacked with this disease from eating improper food or from cold; during an attack the dog is very restless, runs from one place to another, lies down and rolls, snaps at his flanks; it is mostly attended with constipation.

The remedies are Aconite, Arsenicum and Nux vomica. Give Aconite first a dose or two of which is often all that is necessary; if not, give Arsenicum and Nux vomica if constipation remains.

Dose. Three drops once a day.

DIARRHOEA IN THE DOG [Diarrhoea in the Dog]

General [General]       Dogs often have a slight attack of diarrhoea, lasting for a day or two and then going off without any interference, but there are occasionally cases which become chronic, and require the administration of medicine.

Remedies: Arsenicum, Chamomilla and Mercurius.

Arsenicum [Ars]       Arsenicum may be given when the dog is thirsty, strains violently, and has protrusion of the rectum.

Dose. Three drops twice a day.

Chamomilla [Cham]       Chamomilla is indicated when the disease follows cold, and the dog appears to be in pain between the evacuations.

Dose. Three drops every two or three hours.

Mercurius [Merc]       Mercurius may be given for bloody, copious, frequent, and putrid evacuations.

Dose. Three or four drops three times a day.
