Introduction

Rhamnus Catharticus, Linn. Natural order, Rhamnacae. Preparation, Tincture or fluid extract of the ripe berries.

Eye

Eyes glistening and injected.

Face

Trembling of the lips. Symptoms of commencing trismus.

Mouth

Coated tongue. Extremely bitter taste.

Throat

Scraping in the throat.

Stomach

Complete loss of appetite.

Abdomen

Violent rumbling and griping, especially cutting pains in the ileo-coecal region and in the transverse colon. The abdomen became hard and distended. Abdomen tympanitic. Colic.

Stool

Diarrhoea. Liquid stools.

Urinary Organs

Urine highly colored.

Respiratory Organs

Respiration short and anxious.

Pulse

Pulse variable.

Extremities

Weakness and prostration in all the limb.

Generalities

Dr. Allen compiled the Encyclopedia of Pure Materia Medica over the course of 10 years.
In 1881 Allen published A Critical Revision of the Encyclopedia of Pure Materia Medica.
